Positive: Good location, provides budget access to beautiful onsen town. Clean and safe.

Negative: The bathroom signs (man peeking over at woman?) besides the tastefulness being a bit lacking, it cast doubt I was using the right bathroom. Also the email address in use for the hostel is disconnected or at least unreliable.

Positive: The staff was fantastic with me, he took time to answer all my questions about Shuzenji, the restaurants, the night activities... And the place was very clean and comfortable, it was my first time in this type of accommodation, and I really appreciated it.

Positive: I really liked the common space of the hostel it was really nice and homely. They had really good restaurant recommendations, especially breakfast we went to the one they suggested and it was so good! Location is so good, easy to get around town from the hostel.

Negative: There’s only one shower which I didn’t really like I had to wait for it both times in the morning. I Think the one shower is a bit of a push for how many people are staying, the room was also super hot too but I also do sleep quite cold normally. I also didn’t like how you had to pay for the parking it was quite expensive.

Summary: Stay was lovely, I would stay there again

Positive: I liked the idea of how hostel knot was raised in its ideals

Negative: On my second location in Izu I got an even better value deal than was provided at Knot, and the parking was not free

Positive: The hostel is in a great location, with many excellent restaurants, shrines, and temples in the surrounding area. A great place to stay to visit the Izu peninsula which can be done completely with transit. The staff is very friendly and they have great advice as to local spots for food and drink. A complete kitchen is provided, there are many nearby hot springs (one which is free admission in partnership with the hostel), and the wifi worked well to take a meeting. The dorm rooms are well air conditioned and the sleeping area is dark and relatively private for a hostel.

Summary: A great location with friendly staff! The perfect place to visit Izu on a budget!
