Positive: The house was beautiful and well dressed.

Negative: The house was very clean the bedrooms were very clean and bathrooms but under the sofas chairs carpets needed a good wipe/mop/ hoover. The freezer was over frozen and the door wouldn't close when reported and was told to turn the fridge freezer off to defrost it. That's not the best answer!!! It took us two hours to defrost and clean it so we could have it turned on. The kitchen table still had butter on from others who ever used it before us. Honestly our stay was lovely it was just the few bits that could have been better. We did enjoy it.

Positive: Great location. House was a perfect size for our group. Living space comfortable and kitchen was well equipped. Hot tub was a great feature.

Negative: Had to clean the cupboards before putting our groceries in; we're by no means clean freaks, but there were crumbs/sticky marks. Outside bin was nearly full on arrival, so ended up having to find somewhere to put our full bin bags as we were a large party. Bin man came on the Thursday morning (we left on Friday) Three of the beds need replacing as sagging, one had broken slats. All minor points.

Positive: The house was perfect for our large group. The bedrooms were all a really good size and nicely furnished. The availability of a family room was a huge advantage and added to the flexibility of the accommodation. The dining/kitchen area with large table and small sofa provided a great entertaining area which we spent most of our time in. Although we didn’t feel the need to use it much the living room had ample seating - 3 sofas - and was a comfortable space. The configuration of bathroom, shower rooms and toilets was perfect which is not often the case when catering for a large group. You couldn’t get a better location. It was in a lovely quiet street yet only a few minutes walk from the beach, the harbour, cafes, bars etc.

Negative: The property advertises a BBQ which we were unable to use. It obviously hadn’t been used for some time and hadn’t been cleaned by previous guests. It was full of old ashes and the grill was encrusted with the remains of food. We would have needed to purchase scouring pads and cleaning agents not available in the property but this wasn’t something we wanted to do whilst on holiday. The BBQ should either be checked and cleaned by the housekeeping team or removed from the facility listings. We couldn’t find any oven gloves so we were required to use the only tea towel provided which wasn’t very safe.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Allium House and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Negative: more information about keys and car parking earlier. Lots of emails about where to park, but not where to find the scratch card? Thought they would be emailed at one point? key code should be given first thing in the morning not 4 hours before checkin??
