With fine plaster ceilings and 18th-century oak panelling, this beautifully decorated and comfortably furnished holiday property contains many period features and forms a separate, self-contained East Wing of Whalton’s historic and fascinating Manor House. The Manor House sits in a celebrated and magnificent 3-acre garden, originally designed by Gertrude Jekyll and Edwin Lutyens, which has an enviable reputation for its stunning planting.
Whalton is a pretty village in the heart of Northumberland providing easy access to both Hadrian's Wall and the coast and with its own pub. Druridge Bay’s long sweep of golden beach is 30 minutes’ drive, as are the beautiful Alnwick Gardens, and the Roman forts of Vindolanda and Housesteads are less than 45 minutes' drive. Easy touring to the National Park, the Cheviots and the Scottish borders. Morpeth 5 miles. Newcastle-upon-Tyne 17 miles. Newcastle Airport 10 miles. Shop and post office 4 miles.
Ground floor: Large panelled sitting-room with open fire leading to room with full-size snooker table (not to be used by children under twelve). Oak-panelled kitchen with island units, leading to oak-panelled dining area. First floor: Large double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and toilet. Double bedroom. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with toilet. There are no shower facilities.
The garden surrounds the East Wing and, although shared with the owner of the property, due to its size and layout affords a relative degree of privacy for both owner and guest. Please note that the garden is occasionally open to the public, or for private tours. Guests will be notified in advance. The gardens are currently managed to encourage our insect and bird populations and consequently we have a zero herbicide, pesticide and artificial fertiliser policy. Guests may find more weeds and wildflowers than they might otherwise expect but we think the trade-off is worth it.

Summary: A lovely, historic house set in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed the snooker table, the real fire and all the space. A little more equipping could be provided in some areas: a vacuum cleaner, vanity light in ensuite needed fixing, carpet on the stair needs repairing, a few more utensils in the kitchen (teaspoons, ladel etc), and some additional lighting on the path between the front door and gate would be very helpful at nighttime.

Summary: The manor is beautiful, very peaceful and relaxing, lovely gardens to wander around, ideal to have billiards table and lots of books and games available while you stay. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Summary: Whalton Manor and gardens is a real gem ! So much to say about this wonderful listed property, I suggest to book it and find out for yourself.... You will not be dissappointed !
