Positive: The property is a traditional old house at the top end of the village that has been refurbished with all modern conveniences as well as a lovely woodburner to cosy up to at night. It is very handy for the hiking trails in the national park, one of which goes right past the door !

Summary: We had a very enjoyable stay and wish we had booked longer !

Positive: We stayed in the Green Man Gerês Mountain House for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It is a spacious independent house on two floors, with the bedroom on the street level and the kitchen and living room plus spacious balcony one floor up. The view on the village and the mountains is fantastic. In the week that we were there, the temperature in the mountains sometimes reached more than 30 C, but the house always remained comfortable (especially when closing the blinds when the sun shone on them and opening the windows in the night and early morning). Also, the balcony is so large and well-situated that one can always find a comfortable place to sit in the shade and enjoy the views. The owner (who lives in another town nearby) is very nice and helpful.

Positive: Cozy ancient and renovated stone house in which it is 20 degrees when it is 30 degrees outside without air conditioning. Nice to spend the evening in terrace with a view to the town and mountains. One of hiking trails passes next to the house. Tip. It not easy to drive up to the house with large car. Ask host in advance to provide alternative place to park.

Positive: We loved the history of this house. It was created from very old animal stables and the hay storage area above. The house is surrounded by equally ancient homes and is very atmospheric. The area is really quiet even though it's in the village. Great views from the main living area. Don't try to drive to the house without talking to the owner first. It's easier to park just a short distance away.

Negative: A particularly tall or large person might have trouble with the tight spiral staircase or the small space around the toilets.

Summary: Atmospheric building in an equally atmospheric village.
