Positive: Lovely tradititonal hotel. Clean, tidy, helpful staff. The restarant and food were great (although we only had breakfast). Given the price I think we maybe expected a little more polish and better facilities, but overall we really enjoyed our stay. A solid 25min from the cooler/trendier areas in San Jose like Barrio Escalante.

Positive: Nice Hotel in an old building - beautiful. We had a room with little garden and fountain (which you can switch off). Restaurant is also beautiful - food was great. I also had a treatment that was worth having it - 90 minutes relaxing full body - I liked it a lot.

Positive: Beautiful hotel that's a great introduction to Costa Rica! Loved staying somewhere with character and class. The food was phenomenal- we had dinner there twice! The staff were incredibly helpful and warm. We would come back again!

Negative: We stayed in the least costly option- the first stay we were in a standard double room. Works great! Would just say the bathroom is real tight. The sink area is small to work with but doable! Second stay we were in a superior queen room which had more space. We enjoyed that! But could go either way depending on wanting to save money.

Summary: Excellent restaurant and accommodations. Beautiful! Warm and helpful staff.

Positive: Beautiful place close to downtown (about a 45 minute walk). We booked to stay the last two nights before leaving Costa Rica. Very friendly staff, had one excellent dinner at the restaurant. Nice room with everything you need. Free parking just across the street.

Negative: (This has nothing to do with the exceptional hotel !) - Location is good, if you want to walk into town or the Sabana park, but (as in many bigger cities) it is not advisable to walk around at night. Costa Rica is definitely one of the most beautiful countries on this planet, it deserves a much nicer capitol, unfortunately.
