Positive: Finfood Lodge is a very peaceful place right on the Gambia River. I spent four nights there and had a wonderful time. The hosts are very accommodating and gave me a very warm welcome and also picked me up. The small lodge is still partly under construction and with your visit you are helping to support and optimize a small family business :)

Positive: Very friendly staff, food is excellent and such good value for money. The tour to see the chimps was also brilliant and the staff organized everything.

Negative: We would have liked to walk around Janjanbureh alone. I've traveled a lot in Africa, I don't need a babysitter.

Positive: Staff were incredible, nothing is too much trouble. The location is incredible, beautiful scenery and so peaceful and calm. Food was delicious.

Negative: The Lodge is basic, don't expect luxury, this was fine for me but might not be everyone's taste.

Positive: What an amazing place! The location was magic and also very convenient (just few minutes by boat crossing to George town Island) right on the mighty river surrounded by nature. You could eat your meals watching birds passing by and staring at stars at night listening to the sound of nature. What makes it even more special was the staff there, I couldn't thank enough Muhammed (Maxi), Ibrahim (Passy) for looking after me and making me feel at home! They organized transport/excursions on the river to see birds, hippos and chimpanzees. As a solo traveler it is a very safe place no to be missed! I would now call it my second home!

Positive: They’re working hard on it to make it the best accomodation in town. I’m sure it’ll be a walhalla in no time!

Negative: Because of the low tide we ran out of water, but it was fixed in no time.

Positive: It was a nice location upriver, very beautiful and peaceful. The food was pretty good and the room was nice enough with a fan. The staff helped us find a bus back to Serrekunda and helped us with the ferry as well, and the owner was diligent in helping fix our complaints.

Negative: The excursions were overpriced. The “guide” we had was more of a babysitter, as he mostly sat on his phone and didn’t explain anything about the nature or the area to us. 6,800 dalasi just for someone to babysit us while we took a taxi to a village and a boat to try to see hippos is too much money. For that price, we expected more service, like a real guide knowledgeable about the plants and animals of the area, cold water, and even lunch since our trip was so long. With none of that, it isn’t worth the price.

Positive: The hospitality. Nice clean area. Nice rooms. Good sanitair, toilet and shower. Great view from the terrace were we had breakfast.

Negative: Sometimes the pressure of water was a bit low. But it didnt really bother. Good solutions offered!
