Late 1800's farm house on a 155 acre working family farm located in the heart of the Bourbon Trail. It is a unique experience to stay on our farm where we raise non-GMO corn that goes into producing bourbons here in Kentucky. The farm is rural and private, but convenient to Louisville, distilleries and many other local attractions. We are located only 10 minutes from the Gene Snyder Freeway in Louisville and 10 minutes from the Outlet Shops of the Bluegrass and 15 minutes from Shelbyville.
The space
This is a historic farm house, over 120 years old. The 4 bedroom house (1 King, 1 Queen & 2 double beds) comfortably sleeps 8 people. Although it is clean and well maintained, if you prefer shiny and modern this peaceful farm stay may not be for you. Feel free to take a walk around the farm and get out an enjoy the tranquil surroundings on the 2 porches. Also, there are 2 TVs in the home. The living room TV has Dish Network & the upstairs queen bedroom TV receives basic TV channels via an antenna. However for those who want to stay well connected, free wi-fi is provided and the cell phone reception at the house is generally good. There is plenty of parking, even if you are towing a trailer or have multiple vehicles. There is one room of the house that we use for our farm office, that will remain locked. The property is available for renting everyday, but please keep in mind that since it is a working farm there is traffic in and out of the shared driveway and may be equipment noise on the property. Also the home is not accessible because there are 3 steps to get inside and the bathroom and 3 of the 4 bedrooms are on the 2nd floor.
Guest access
You will have access to the entire home, with the living room closet where we store our supplies. Feel free to get out and walk around the 155 acre farm. No one else lives on the farm, so your stay will be private. However there may be farm vehicles in and out of the driveway or work going on at the farm during your stay. We live approximately 20 minutes away, so we are there to help if needed, but other than maybe in and out of the farm you won't see us.
Local Area
Just 15 minutes from historic Downtown Shelbyville, where you will find many restaurants, antique malls and other shopping and coffee shops. The house is located near Finchville and Simpsonville KY, both beautiful little country towns. It is a rural setting, so we hope you enjoy the farms and scenery along the way. Please note that the closest stores and restaurants are a just a 10 minute drive away.
Getting around
Feel free to get out and take a stroll around the 155 acre farm, stretch your legs and enjoy nature. However, to get to this home you will need to come by car. There is no public transportation in the area. You can get a cab, Uber, Lyft, etc. out of nearby Louisville.

Summary: We loved staying in this country farmhouse. We had plenty of room and enjoyed the view of the open fields. It was very relaxing and getting away from the big city and interstate. We did attend the National Archery tournament in Louisville and other fun activities but it was nice to unwind in the country. It was a great family getaway and enjoyed having our dogs with us too.

Summary: The farmhouse was the perfect place for our family to break up our drive home from Nashville. It was spacious, clean and felt like home. The property is absolutely perfect for dogs. It was so nice to let them run while we enjoy the peaceful setting on the back porch. The blackstone was fantastic to cook dinner on. What a nice amenity. We also all slept so great in the beds. Nice and comfy! The attention to detail was very evident. I highly recommend this place!

Summary: The property was beautfiful. It was extremely dog friendly, but considering the space the house is pretty close to the road if you have young kids or animals that like to wander. No issues with the house at all for us, but it is definitely accurate when it says a farm house. The trucks coming in and out was not noisy unless you are a light sleeper. Overall, we highly recommend, and would stay here again.

Summary: This is well described as an old farm house. It is what it is, and was fantastic for our family and dogs. Also great location for trips to distilleries and family events. Summary: This is a classic farmhouse that has been modernized, but still has the feel of the old building that it is. It's in a beautiful area that was just transitioning into spring as we visited. It was super quiet (despite a remarkably strong rainstorm), and we slept well. We had a very short visit - just an overnight on a family road trip, so I can't speak well to amenities or the like. The kitchen looked like it would be fine for doing family dinners, and the space is nice and open. I would stay here again, for sure

Summary: The farm was wonderful.It worked wonderfully for us as we were traveling with our working sheepdogs to compete at a local trial. Having a place where they could stretch their legs was FANTASTIC after spending most of the day in their rates or tethered at the trial site.
