Fox Cottage is a comfortable family house - 1 of about 20 houses in the picturesque fishing cove of Porthoustock. It has a fine view of the sea, which is a 5 minute walk down a quiet road. There is a large sunny terrace at the back, and in front, across the unmade road, an acre of garden with a stream and ponds. The cove is full of interest. There is a quarry on one side of the cove and a boat comes in 3 times a week to load up the road stone - fishermen leave from the cove to catch mackerel, bass, crabs and lobsters; divers explore the wrecks off the Manacle rocks. There is a pier for fishing or jumping and diving at high tide. The beach is stony, the water clean and the swimming lovely and there are beautiful cliff and country walks. The footpath to St Keverne is delightful. There is a newsagents, post office, fresh bread, an excellent butcher, groceries, café, doctor, and 2 pubs. Although near some of finest sandy beaches in south Cornwall, Porthoustock itself is quiet with little traffic. Would suit 2 families perfectly.

Summary: Really enjoyed our stay. Cottage had everything we needed and so much more. Lovely quiet location. Plenty of room. Added bonus of a beach on your doorstep. Would recommend to anyone wanting a family holiday with a variety of ages ranges, in a characterful cottage. Grandchildren have already asked if they can come back next year and stay for 2weeks!!!! Will definitely look to stay here again.

Summary: This house is located in a lovely fishing hamlet and the views of the sea from the kitchen and main bedroom are splendid. We stayed for four nights as we had a three day Raku course in St Keverne so the five bedrooms with v comfortable beds were ideal for our group. A really well equipped house with everything you could wish for - it feels like this house has had a lot of love piled into it. The large kitchen/family room meant we could all be preparing food while drinking and talking. A v easy house to live in. Only one request from us - that the upstairs over-bath shower might have a shower curtain - we needed those showers after our pottery days so the one shower downstairs was in demand 🥰 Thank you for being such a lovely host - we hope to return to this house again, if you will have us.

Summary: Fox Cottage is perfect for a larger family or group of friends. Despite being a little rough around the edges in places, we loved it. The cottage will sleep 9 on very comfortable beds and refreshingly, there is ample space for everyone to relax and eat together. The kitchen was well equipped, the utility room has full laundry facilities and the all-important-wifi for the kids worked well. The outside space was also well equipped with plenty of seating in a south facing patio garden. We were a little worried about the old fashioned coin meter for the electric but we only used about one pound a day even with the tumble dryer going. The cottage is about a 3 minute walk to the shingle beach and there is plenty of parking outside the cottage. The garden is massive but a bit boggy after all the recent rain so we didn’t get to make use of it. The only minor issue was sharing a single shower between 7 of us but the hot water never ran out so just a timing issue! (There is a bath with a handheld shower but no curtain to use as a standup shower) We loved this cottage and will stay again.

Summary: We loved the quirky house, so many bedrooms to choose from !! and the outdoor space was brilliant too. It was nicknamed the Haunted House - no evidence at all for that name but it seemed the sort of house which might be........ the view from the main bedroom window was fantastic. All the kitchen utensils we needed we found. I have to admit that we put the plates in a drawer whilst we were there as we had visions of all the crockery balanced on the dresser crashing to the floor and didn't want to take the risk !! A cosy and welcoming home. Just one suggestion, there was no "welcome pack" and after a 4 1/2 hour journey it would have been a nice touch to have perhaps a vase of flowers, pint of milk in fridge, bottle of wine?? though we must add that there were plenty of tea bags and coffee available. Thank you for a memorable stay. xx

Summary: We have just had the most lovely experience at Fox Cottage. So quiet and relaxing we woke up every morning looking out to sea and the fishermen coming and going. The numerous birds in the trees no more than a meter away feeding on the nuts in the bird feeders. At night you can hear the brook in the garden and that is about all you can hear. The walks the host suggested were fantastic to local beaches, coves and shops. Fantastic and we certainty be back. Relaxing and exactly as advertised. Tbank you so much.

Summary: We loved our weeks stay at Jenny’s place. Only a few minutes from some great kayaking & swimming with loads of other options within 30min. This is a lovely relaxed & fairly remote part of Cornwall where you can feel away from the crowds. The house is very much a loved family home with its own style and everything you would need including an outside eating/relaxing area with a view of the bay which was also safe for our dog. Highly recommended - would love to return.
