Chateau la Gontrie is an ideal base to discover all the beauties and treasures of Bordeaux and its region. You will enjoy all the modern comfort of a fully self-catering holiday house set in a calm lovely hilly countryside on a family owned winery. The wine maker and owner Jean-Louis (bi-lingual in English) and Nola (his Australian wife) will be delighted to share their passion for Bordeaux and its region and will be happy to help you make your holidays a most enjoyable experience.
You can relax on this 11-hectare property, surrounded by the gardens, vines and forest of Château la Gontrie. Less than 50 meters from the holiday house there is a large swimming pool area (secured for children) with a shared pool of 12m x 6m*. This haven of peace is only 25 minutes from Bordeaux.
Description of the holiday house: Le Relais : 2 bedrooms – 2 to 4 guests
The house Le Relais ‘s façade was built with the typical sand stone of Bordeaux which is part of the main building facing West. This bright and colourful house has all the assets of a modern house, free Wi-Fi internet access, sofa, TV comfortable beds, well equipped-kitchen.
The ground floor consists of a large living room and dining room, a separate kitchen, a laundry and a toilet.
On the first floor a landing leads to: a parental room with a bed of 1,6m x 2m and a twin bedroom with 2 beds 1m x 2m. An extra bed for a child under 10 years old can be added in the twin bedroom on request. Each bedroom has its own ensuite (shower, washbasin and toilet).
Each bedrooms are equipped with blackout curtains and good quality bedding to ensure you the best relaxing holiday.
The Relais’s garden is equipped with a barbecue, a table and garden chairs.
Staying on a family owned wine property you will benefit from a free English visit of the vineyard, winery and tasting of our 6 different wines. This visit and wine tasting takes about 1hour and a half.
Passionate about their region, Jean-Louis, Nola and Andréa (their daughter) will be very happy to share their local knowledge and their favourites places with you to help you discover the best of the area.
This is an ideal destination for a family holiday or to share with some friend in a spacious and self-catering holiday house. The beautiful green surroundings in the middle of the vines will help you to relax and experience life on a family Bordeaux winery.
In the grounds there is table tennis, a volley ball area and swings for the children. We also provide free bicycles to ride to our local bakery (800meters) for the croissant lovers or to go and get some oysters (from the Bassin d’Arcachon) Sunday morning in the village.

Summary: Our holiday started with a warm welcome by Andrea, introducing us to the house, the surroundings and leisure options. A lovely and peaceful site (re-)built by her family. Everything was in a very tidy manner and the kitchen well equipped with everything you need. We very much liked the place in front of the house and sat there till late night.

Summary: A super visit. The house is comfy and spotless. Kitchen was well supplied with all the cooking equipment we could wish for. We rearly enjoyed the wine tasting, and local oysters. Such great hosts. we look forward to visiting again.

Summary: As two couples we booked somewhere to stay in a venue near to Bordeaux, as some of the group were going to the Rugby World Cup, while some of us stayed to paint the stunning countryside. The property was beautiful, kitchen really well equipped, tastefully decorated and spotless. The owners were lovely, really supportive and welcoming. This is a winery, be prepared to sample. A brilliant stay, can't recommend it highly enough.

Summary: What a gem 10/10 nothing we could fault. Andrea, Nola and John-Louis have thought of everything to make your stay as easy and as pleasurable as possible. We stayed here for the rugby match Ireland V Romania. It was so easy to get to Bordeaux and park and walk into the city. We were so impressed we have booked for next year thank you very much

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners were wonderful, vey welcoming and accommodating. The tour of the winery with the owner was a fabulous experience and should not be missed! The only thing to be aware of is that the bedrooms are on the second floor with a steep staircase but manageable. We left our luggage downstairs.

Summary: Lovely guesthouse on a beautiful property within a short drive to gorgeous villages and fabulous restaurants. The house was super clean and had more than the usual kitchen supplies. Bathrooms were large and comfortable, as were the beds. The hosts were super friendly and helpful, and we have absolutely no complaints about our stay.
