Positive: We enjoyed our stay, everything was perfect. Couldn't have asked for more. Best part was having elephants walk by every evening

Negative: I might have missed, but it wasn't clear that the property was outside the park (we thought it was within the park). But this didn't really bother us especially since the entrance gate was 5min away. Just a thing to note though.

Positive: Impossible to not start with the elephants… wow - what an amazing experience with the elephants at the watering hole just a few meters away from the pool and dining area. Taking a dip, your breakfast/lunch/dinner, enjoying a soak in the hot tub, or chilling on the rooftop lounge of the cabins while herds and herds of those amazing creatures cycled through throughout the day was insane. What an experience. Food was good, sometimes a little complicated but they out a lot of effort in which is nice. The pool area is really nice as well. The cabins are really well done and we loved the concept, especially the rooftop lounge for viewing animals. It’s an eco resort so you have to be ok with no AC. It got a little hot at times but we managed with the fans and getting a breeze through. At night it cools down nicely. We also did the off-road buggy tour which was good fun, a different way to see the Tanzanian countryside and some wildlife outside the park. Location (apart from the elephants and wildlife) is also great, right beside one of the secondary entrances to Tarangire. Staff were also really nice, shoutout to Innocencia who especially took good care of us, and the Saffer manager who was always good for a laugh and a story.

Negative: The kitchen staff tried so hard to accommodate my wife’s dietary needs (no gluten) including making special gluten free bread etc. But there was one time gluten turned up on the plate, thankfully we caught it before she ate it. The carpets in the cabins tend to attract the little thorny seeds that are all around Northern Tanzania, so it was easy to get one in the foot often when walking around inside. As mentioned, you also have to be ok with no AC! Also as it’s a brand new property, they are still working out some kinks (quite literally when it came to the flooring of the restaurant and pool which was going to be redone), nothing that seriously detracted from our stay but as it’s not a cheap lodge, something to remember that it’s so new.

Summary: Come for the elephant viewing, it’s more than enough! But stylish place and lovely staff as well :)

Positive: Rob, the owner, has done a fabulous job using recycled materials to create this eco friendly lodge. It’s in a great location and the elephants and monkeys are abundant! The food there is absolutely AMAZING!! The chef will cook to your dietary needs and the food quality is top notch. The staff was so friendly and attentive. The room was nice with soft linens and soft towels, great amenities. The upstairs terrance is great!

Negative: Our room needed better air circulation. Since they are shipping containers they heat up like a furnace. Only miniature fans are given which isn’t enough during the summer months. We had a very hard time falling asleep and had to sleep with no covers despite the bed and linens being comfortable.

Summary: Great lodge in the middle of wildlife!
