This historic stone building was the Salvation Army building that was built in 1911. It is above my law office and was our New York style penthouse living quarters when a complete rebuild was done in 2009. It overlooks Main Avenue right next to Olde Tymers Cafe, and is two doors south from Carvers in Downtown Durango. It is a five star accommodation with an enclosed and heated garage for parking. In my opinion it is the most beautiful penthouse apartment in downtown Durango. The VRBO tenants confirm this description. It has first class amenities including high-end kitchen appliances, beautiful furnishings, Master bath with free standing soaker tub, steam shower, courtyard, and a balcony. It has double paned windows which allows for great insulation and low noise. My wife and I only want to rent to 2 adults, We want to keep the unit in beautiful condition, we only allow 2 persons to sleep in the unit. No large or loud parties. Although there is a small second bedroom, it is not okay for others to sleep there. If not approved by owners, a penalty fee will be added to your stay. The location is amazing, walk out your front door to great restaurants, bars and other amenities. It will not disappoint you. We rarely allow adult children to stay, and have recently made the decision to not allow young children. The place is perfect for two adults,,,,and the cleaning is so much more difficult when kids stay, as well as their impact on the space. This penthouse and its garage has another VRBO (212471) for additional accommodations for your additional guests (1BR luxury apartment above the garage) which can also be rented along with this unit.

Summary: This is the second time we’ve stayed at the Main Street Penthouse and we enjoy it every time. It’s so much fun to be right in the middle of downtown, yet the place is very quiet and private. We had everything we needed for our short stay and the garage is a big plus for us as we travel with bikes and love the security of leaving them in the van, in the garage. We will also book a few days at the Penthouse whenever we are in town.

Summary: Beautifully appointed with engaging art, serene color palette, comfy bed and quiet neighbors. The fusion of old and modern structural elements are in balance. Excellent communication and information from owner. Located in the heart of downtown with the bonus of garage parking. Will definitely stay again. Wish we didn’t have a complimentary stay at the Leland in a couple weeks.

Summary: Beautiful penthouse in the heart of Durango overlooking Main. Walk to the train depot and fabulous restaurants downtown. The place was decorated to the nines. A perfect setting to celebrate my wife’s 80 years of life on this planet. We wanted to do something memorable and this fit the bill.

Summary: You won't find a better place to stay than here. Location was perfect - right on Main. In the heart of everything. A little tricky getting through doors to access it but don't let that stop you. Very very nice.Can't wait to come back.
