Positive: The room was big and very clean with the option of AC and a ceiling fan. mosquito nets on the windows, a balcony area to sit outside the room. A lovely fresh breakfast is provided on the terrace if you want. each day we had a curry alongside Appams one day and idlis the next. This was our first couple of nights stay in India and I feel we were very lucky to have such a nice place to recuperate and adjust after our flight The family hosting were incredibly friendly and kind and their English speaking daughter Seethal was available to help via phone at any time. Location is good, very tranquil and set back from a quiet road but very near the sea. This is a thin strip of beach at this point and not so easy to access when the tide is in which is mostly. However the beach widens about 15mins walk down the road and has lifeguards, it is a vey nice clean beach, quiet in the day and full of people enjoying the water at sunset. Plenty of food options near the house and lining the road to the main beach too.

Positive: We liked to stay at this lovely homestay. The family was very nice to us. They were helpful and caring. We would like to come back to this place if we have a chance. They provide good WI-FI. Breakfast was good. We asked to make it less spicy. They helped us to call a taxi because we didn't have a local sim card. The house is pretty close to the beach. It takes only 5 to 7 minutes to reach the nearest beach. There is a good cafe nearby.

Negative: It's not about the hotel. Just we found it difficult to have fresh fruit because there were no stores nearby. And it's better to change money in advance because there's no money exchange nearby.

Positive: We enjoyed staying at this homestay with our small baby. The owner's family is lovely, room was very clean, breakfasts were delicious! Many restaurants around the place offering seafood and other Keralan dishes. The beach is just across the road. We wish to thank the owners for a warm hospitality!

Negative: The beach itseft is very narrow, blocked by stones and wall from the main road and not easily approachable, if you are with small kids. But it is like this in overall Cherai. Backwater is close, but accessible only a few kilometres further from the house.

Positive: The homestay is in a great location. It's away from the road so nice and quiet but also less than a 3 minute walk from the beach. The room had air-conditioning which is always a plus when it's hot out. The hosts were so kind and caring. They offered us delicious food and checked we had everything we needed. I work remotely and their terrace was the perfect work cation spot.

Negative: There was no mosquito net on the windows or on the bed so we had to sleep with the windows closed so that we didn't get bitten which was fine but usually we like to have air circulation. Also on the last night there were some very loud drunk men staying in the room next to ours who were up talking outside on the veranda until 2 in the morning and then were very loud from around 8am. This has nothing to do with the hosts but just something to bear in mind is the rooms are close together and there isn't that much insulation in the walls so if you have someone staying next to you who is obnoxious you might want to bring ear plugs.

Summary: Really Blissful. lovely room in great location.

Positive: Dhakshina Homestay is a very nice house near the beach in Cherai. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and we got good homecooked breakfast with different dishes every morning. The whole location is very calm and the hosts are lovely and easy to communicate with.
