Positive: This was a wonderful experience and we enjoyed so much about it. Saud has created a beautiful, quiet, comfortable space for a small number of people to have an intimate experience in the desert, an homage to his experience growing up in Bidiyah. From beautiful tents to private bathrooms to wonderful food, Desert Waves is an amazing place to experience the desert, the stars, the scenery and experiences like camel rides or visits to local spots. We met some lovely people (fellow travelers) in the camp that we shared meals with, and Saud and his staff are very helpful, informative and friendly. FYI, two taxi drivers from Muscat quoted us 50 OMR each way to drive us to Bidiyah, and renting a car ourselves was less than half of that amount.

Negative: No complaints, but it would have been helpful to understand the costs a bit better. Currently, the exchange rate is 2.6 USD to 1 Oman riyal. Total cost of the experience was ~$200/night US. We weren't certain if we could drive our rental car all the way to the camp (it wasn't 4WD), so we elected to meet at a spot 9km away and they took us on into the camp. This transfer cost 25 OMR or $65 US. I think we could have made it and in retrospect probably should have tried it first. A 10 minute camel ride around the camp (highly recommended!) was 5 OMR and a 40 minute camel ride or trip to the local wadi was 25 OMR.

Positive: The tents are beautifully equipped with very comfortable beds and furnishing. It is tucked between two sand dunes. The food is so incredibly delicious and the staff very friendly and attentive. We were very lucky to have the owner join us over dinner and share wonderful stories about his life, culture and love for the country. This was definitely the icing on the cake and we enjoyed every moment together.

Summary: One of the best experiences we had during our trip to Oman.

Positive: It was a real phantastic and very private and exclusive experience. The camp has just a couple of tents, with an extreme nice atmosphere and very comfortable. We enjoyed it a lot. Saud and Ahmed are so friendly and offer really nice dinner and breakfast, in the desert. Also they offer all kind of activities in the desert like camelriding, desert tour to the bedouines and doing a dune bashing tour with either Saud or Ahmed is really impressive and fund. Saud tells so nicely about the desert, about Oman and the Omanis, it is so pleasant and also magic. We loved it.

Positive: I have been here last year this is my second time in this camp. I really liked the new location they added more tents and place is amazing. They improved the toilets they are more luxurious now!! The staff are lovely the buffet has lots of variety and all tasty. I highly recommend it for your vacation.

Negative: You need to get 4WD if you don’t have they can provide shuttle service.

Summary: My always favorite place for relaxing and detoxing !!
