Townend Barn is detached and situated in an acre of grounds with Townend House the village of Lydford. The barn is situated behind the main house and the parking is off road. Beautifully converted to a high standard, the barn is open plan but intimate and heated by storage heaters and a very efficient wood burning stove. There is a grand piano to play, two bookcases filled with interesting books for you to enjoy; original paintings and wooden animal head sculptures decorate the walls. Lydford has no street lighting so after an evening meal at one of the three good restaurants in the village you can walk home without worrying who is going to drive. Lydford is a thriving working village and an ideal base from which to have a relaxing and interesting time. The moor is only 15 minutes walk. It is a beautiful unspoilt part of the moor - No ice cream vans or big coach parties. You can find wilderness within half an hour.

Summary: We spent our honeymoon in this beautiful place the barn was lovely with everything we could have wished for and a beautiful secluded garden which our dog Bella loved. We had a great time exploring Dartmoor which was helped by the gorgeous weather.

Summary: We spent 4 nights at Townend barn over Christmas and had a fabulous time. The barn is beautiful, well appointed with everything you need for a short stay. We would definitely recommend Townend barn and would stay there again.

Summary: An extremely comfortable, very well appointed accommodation. Excellent situation for pubs, the Moor and public transport. Nick and Tania were excellent hosts - there if we needed assistance. The highlight for me was the opportunity to play a beautiful Steinway piano
