Positive: This was the best (land-bound) accommodation I stayed in during my month in Down Under. The fauna of the Queensland rainforest in terms of conspicuousness can‘t quite compare with that of its more equatorial counterparts - no nightly cacophony of grunts, hoots, screams and caws (at least not when I was there), but you‘ll struggle to find a lodging establishment in any similar setting that has been so seamlessly, thoughtfully and lovingly integrated into its environment. The little winding footpaths to the various bungalows are just delightful, the whirlpool is maybe the most enticing in the world, and the staff, even for a country renowned for its hospitality, were just disarmingly kind and polite. And the ceiling fans - maybe I‘m just a complete Luddite who‘s missed all related technological advancements of the last 20 years, but they made nary a sound! I had no idea such noiseless fans even existed!! I was flabbergasted. I would consider coming back to the Daintree just to spend entire days sitting waiting for Cassowaries, and to stay again at the Lodge.
