Summary: We arrived in Almeria with only one suitcase, Got in our Hired Car which is a must !! We were not given Directions to our place, so before we left home we had to Google maps and take with us, these directions were of no use, It took us hours, eventually Umberto came and met us and we followed him to the Property. On arrival we had No Air Conditioning and No fan, It must have been 40 Degrees in the Apartment and its a Solid Concrete Apartment and we couldn't open the Main Windows as there were lots of Flies about. There was No Cold Water in the Fridge in Fact I am not sure the Fridge was even on, We were advised to drink the Tap water, This is literally on Arrival. So we had to go off and Get Geoff some shorts due to no luggage and a Electric Fan to cool the room down and get some Bottled Water. Baring in Mind we had been on the Road since 3.30 am this is now 4 pm in the afternoon trying to find the nearest Shopping Town to get Food as well; as there are No local shops or Bars. The Scenery is Beautiful you feel like your in the Desert which is great. The Pool Area is very small and it;s mainly Occupied by Families, again Not what My Husband and I wanted as we were expecting a Quiet Rural Retreat, There are Plenty of Beaches to Visit they are Busy and some are very hard to Access especially West of San Jose. Umberto and his Family were All very Kind and Helpful. If you have booked a Vacation be aware that it is Very Rural and Very Basic, but pleasant.

Summary: The place is very beautiful and remote. This is a very special stay, if you want to stay in a place where you can feel "lost in the desert", that's probably the best place to be. The appartment is very clean, the bed are very comfortable. You will find everything you need for a pleasant stay will all the conveniences in the middle of nowhere. The night is very peaceful in this place. Umberto and his wife are very welcoming people, and very helpful to find the best places to have a walk, find beautiful playas etc. You need to stay here to try this experience.

Summary: My husband and I visited Cortijo La Tenada for two nights during a 10-day trip to Spain, on the recommendation of other hosts. We didn't quite know what to expect from the surroundings or the accommodations themselves, but both turned out to be very special. Cabo de Gata, the park in which the lodge is situated, looks almost like the American Southwest - hills covered in scrubby plants and cactus, enormous sky with every possible intricate combination of clouds. When we stepped outside our suite, you could see other buildings off in the distance - not even that far away, maybe - but the whole atmosphere was one of extreme quiet and calm. There's just nothing around, and it was incredible! The lodge is stark white with dark wood trim, and our rooms were very well outfitted, in a modern, minimalist kind of way. The bedroom got REALLY dark with the shutters closed, which was great for sleeping in - there was absolutely no way to tell what time it was! No lights coming from neighboring buildings to disturb your slumber, of course. Umberto and his wife were very kind hosts who gave us a lot of information about the area and recommended beaches nearby (including Playa de los Muertos, which was beautiful) and towns to eat in. They weren't around very often, but were completely helpful when we needed them. All in all, it was a very pleasant stay and we would certainly go back.
