Secluded within it's own orchard with the sound of birdsong, croaking of frogs in the mill pond, scent of wild herbs and views southwards down the valley to the nearby vineyards and rolling hills of Burgundy.
The massive medieval walls above of Flavigny- where the film "Chocolat" was shot - will draw you in to discover artists shops, restaurants and the ancient abbey where they still make the famous aniseed pastilles.
This stunning 2 bedroom cottage of exceptional charm, entirely renovated to an exacting modern standard with considerable flair, will seduce you with it's atmospheric feeling of peace and contentement.
The cottage is on 3 levels ; the attic twin bedroom has an old beamed ceiling with 2 windows making it light and airy. There is a seperate toilet and washbasin making it ideal for children or adolescents.
On the middle level there is a fully fitted kitchen with all modern appliances, eating area, television, wood burning stove and sofa.
On the lower level, that can be accessed by the oak ladder or by going outside, there is the double bedroom, an ensuite shower, toilet and washbasin and double doors that lead out to the terrace and garden.
The garden has several mature fruit trees, help yourselves to make apple or cherry tarts, everything you need can be found in the house.
There is a bar b que for hot summer days, sun lougers and a good selection of deck furniture including a set of armchairs and sofa with cushions. If you are looking to sunbathe or read a book in the shade you will find plenty of choice in the garden, pots of flowers and bird watching could also inspire you to paint....

Summary: Nice short stay villa, good facilities. Very quiet location with great walking access to Flaviny. The owner was very responsive to our queries. We ordered some food which was excellent after a long drive.

Summary: We had a lovely quiet Christmas break at La Tour, enjoying walks in the countryside and reading by the fire. The property is charming and well designed and the kitchen is well equipped - we cooked at home every night except the first when we ordered from Louise's menu of home cooked regional specialities. Such a treat! We'd love to come again in the spring!

Summary: The house is a little jewel in a lovely area next to the pittoresque Flavigny-sur-Ozerain. The gîte is clean, charming and extraordinary and we spent a calm and wonderful Christmas in this beautiful place. The fireplace made the house warm and cosy. The gîte is very well equipped with everything you need. We also loved the hiking paths around the village. Louise is a very nice person and a marvelous host. We recommend the house and its spot. It must be wonderful to be there also in another season and to enjoy the lovely garden too.

Summary: The house is just as pictured, spotlessly clean throughout with every piece of crockery and cutlery you could need. The bed linen was spotless as was the bathroom, fantastic shower with plenty of hot water. Although the house sleeps four it is really best suited for two. The rooms are very small but very cosy and well laid out to maximise space. The stairs are just as pictured and noted in the house description, steep and narrow so would definitely not suit less abled guests or small children. They do add real character when moving between floors though. You can move between the middle floor and lower bedroom via the outside steps but this isn’t ideal if the weather is not so good. The garden area is a very good size although we felt it could do with a little maintenance just to make that difference as could the storage area that houses the washing machine. The owners have gone to so much trouble within the house to make sure all is furnished to a high standard, but we felt these areas were not quite as maintained as they should be and didn’t fit with the rest of the property. Louise’s instructions prior to arriving and emails asking if all was ok during our stay were superb, thank you Louise.

Summary: This is a very well renovated property attention to detail was very good. It had everything we needed , well equipped with at last real China not ikea !!! We loved the situation very peaceful . Enjoyed very much the Bouef stew waiting us on arrival. I felt that this little place was lovely as we had fantastic weather , but it is small and the bedroom downstairs was a little cramped for us . We had great fun climbing up the ladder !!

Summary: Louise is a great host and her beef burgundy is delicious. The house is absolutely charming and we very much enjoyed our evenings sitting outside. Even though the house is quite small it is equipped with everything needed. There is a great selection of books and DVDs. The location is great and there is plenty to see and do. The town of Flavingy-sur-ozerain is gorgeous. We very much enjoyed our stay and will certainly be back!

Summary: We had a wonderful time in this idyllic location. The cottage is located down the hill from beautiful Flavigny and is so peaceful and quiet it's just perfect for a relaxing break. Louise is lovely and we can highly recommend her Beef Bourguignon on arrival.

Summary: The property was very well equipped and the environment was gorgeous. Everything we needed. No problems with the cottage at all. We were a little disappointed with the facilities in Flavigny. We had been told that there were 2 restaurants available and a bar/pub. When we got there we found out that both restaurants only opened at lunch time and there was definitely no bar. All very nice and quiet but not what I had been led to expect. Never mind we are resourceful and ate in every night which, because of the lovely weather etc was most enjoyable. Flexibility is the key word when doing self catering holidays we have found! Possibly later on in the year the one larger restaurant will be open in the evening. We went mid June which should have been O.K. and I had checked but hey ho. Overall an excellent place to stay for a week but do suggest the description on facilities in the village should be reviewed and expanded upon re dates of opening etc.
