Summary: Pluses Great quality ski rental on site Pleasant staff Excellent dinners - set menu which needs to be reserved by 5pm the day before. Proxmity to ski slopes Cleanliness Minuses Rooms are a little outdated and in need of refreshing. Mesh screens outside windows are not attached so they nearly crashed to the ground when I opened the window. Western style room has en-suite which is very small - like an enclosed cubicle with a high step into it - similar to what you might find in a cabin of an overnight ferry. The worst thing about the room (for me) was the constant noise of the pipes at night. There is a notice in the room to explain how the heating works and an apology for any inconvenience caused by the overnight noise. Given that the lounge area closes at 10pm and there isn’t anything else to do in the are, there is little choice but to return to the room at 10pm - just about exactly the time the noisy pipes start! There are no amenities in the area, it was especially hard to find somewhere other than the hotel to eat. This may be different at other times of year - maybe more is open/accessible, we were there mid March. There is a choice of other hotels (if they are open) but it will be a limited menu and the 2 we are at were very average experiences. We had a delicious platter of beef at Yakiniku restaurant. We found one or two convenience stores (in hotel lobbies) with irregular opening times and not much stock.

Summary: Fantastic location, right opposite on of the ski lifts - with beautiful views of the mountain from our room. The room was simple but all we needed with toilet/sink and kettle. The heater was efficient, keeping us warm. The Onsen and sauna were fantastic and clean - a welcome relief from the cold to relax our tired muscles. Breakfast was excellent with a variety of choice, and the tea and coffee station was a nice addition. We enjoyed sitting in the lounge area in the morning enjoying a cup. The storeroom was very convenient for drying out our boots and boards and it was great that the hire of boots was all under one roof in the chalet. Would definitely recommend this accommodation with friendly staff!

Summary: Amazing hotel for skiing in Shigakogen resort. Ski in and ski out. We were also very happy with the quality of rental skis.

Summary: FANTASTIC! What a wonderful stay and cannot wait to go back. Sato-san and the entire staff were amazing to us during our visit with them. It made it feel like home. Kudos as well to the Chef and dining staff, so glad we got the board and every meal was stellar! Amazing and cant wait to visit again soon. Thank you so much for a memorable vacation.

Summary: Nice hotel with good options. Our room was next to the street, and because of heavy snowfall, we were considerably disturb by the machines removing snow during late night and early morning.
