Positive: the breakfast was ok the surroundings were great. the host managed to get car repaired and also recommended a vinyard to go to

Negative: it says the re was a restaurant there however the host patrick said there were no meals available, We went out and bought a cold buffet style lunch and ate in the games room for dinner

Positive: Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The location was great in that you felt like you were secluded, yet it was still pretty close to Amboise and behind. The rooms were very large too. And we loved the friendly outdoor cats. Comfortable bedding and Lodovica went out of her way to make sure our other needs were met.

Negative: Nothing was bad. You could hear other guests within the building but everyone was respectful of quiet hours and in a charming older buildings, some noise from floors/doors is to be expected.

Summary: Lovely grounds and hosts were excellent.

Positive: What a wonderful 4 night stay at Château de la Huberdière. Patrick & Lodovica are fantastic hosts, both of them are so friendly and welcoming. No ask too big and so willing to help. The grounds themselves are spectacular; so peaceful and with plenty of space to explore. And the chateaux - just wow. Very tastefully decorated. Plenty of space to relax, whatever the weather. The breakfast is fresh and delicious. You won’t regret having dinner either, very good vegetarian food cooked by Lodovica, and very good value. Not a bad word to say about this place, we cannot wait to stay again. If you’re considering booking, stop thinking about it and do it! I just wish we could’ve stayed longer.

Positive: Staying at Château de la Huberdière was one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences you dream about and somehow get lucky enough to live. From the moment I arrived, Patrick and Lodovica were the most gracious, thoughtful hosts—every detail made me feel cared for in such a genuine way. Breakfast was homemade, abundant, fresh, and absolutely delicious. One morning, after the chickens had laid eggs, Lodovica made some just for me. That kind of warmth and attention was felt throughout my stay. As a writer, the solitude here was everything. Quiet, peaceful, held by the land. I started a new book and spent hours each day writing, looking out over the beautiful property. And when I wanted to venture out, the nearby town of Amboise was perfect—walkable, welcoming, inspiring. You have to eat at La Fourchette (truly incredible), and visiting Château du Clos Lucé, where Leonardo da Vinci spent his final years, is a must. I felt completely safe traveling alone in the area, and deeply inspired by this town built around a castle, right on the Loire River. Lodovica and Patrick upgraded my room, and it was honestly beyond special—a space I’ll never forget. Already planning to return in the next few months to experience spring!

Negative: Honestly, nothing I would change. Just a heads-up for future guests: this is a countryside château, so yes, you're in nature—there are bugs, and that's part of the charm. It's wonderfully quiet and peaceful here, which was exactly what I wanted, but if you're looking for lots of activity, you might want to plan to spend time in nearby cities or visit during spring or summer when the weather is a bit livelier. I was here in February, and while it was still beautiful, it did rain quite a bit—perfect for writing, but good to know depending on the kind of trip you're hoping for.

Positive: The Chateau has been sympathetically renovated to a high standard evidenced by how clean the rooms were and plumbing that wasn't just an add on to an old system. Furnishings and decoration were tasteful and in keeping with the property and setting. The owners were friendly and accommodating and helpful when help was needed. It was nice that they didn't want to rush anybody at breakfast because, as they said, you were there on holiday. A nice thing to say.

Negative: It was a shame there was only one comfy chair in what was a huge bedroom that could have taken several sofas and still left space. Something that did strike us as odd, given the obvious care and investment that has been made in the property, was the really cheap paper napkins at breakfast. A small matter but attention to little details like that makes such a difference to the whole experience.

Summary: A super Chateau and a stay that we will always remember. The owners made it such a lovely experience

Positive: We had a wonderful stay at Chateau de la Huberdière. Patrick and Lodovica were wonderful hosts, giving us excellent recommendations for visits and restaurants in the area, and booked for us a private visit of a winemaker of the region (in English). The beds are very comfy, the rooms spacious, clean & tastefully decorated and the breakfast all homemade which was lovely. The place is 10min away from Amboise and is a good base to visit the castles of the region. We were really made to feel at home here and we will definitely come back!

Negative: This place exceeded our expectations.
