Positive: Large clean room good enough for a family of 4.

Negative: There is a stark difference between the view claimed and actuals. If looking into the adjacent buildings garden is garden view, then they have it. It is basically a lodge with the name resort. Breakfast is plated and served, they are not very keen on variety if occupancy drops. Will only provide a liter of water per night, for anything above that one has to pay extra. Will I like to repeat the property if I come back to Sri Lanka, No, far better value for money options are available.

Positive: Great pool area at the top of the hotel Large room - very comfortable Good breakfast and lunch

Negative: 10min+ to the centre of Kandy - it was challenging to navigate Tuktuk drivers back to the hotel We had to ask on 3 separate occasions to organise a taxi for our onward travel to the airport - they finally did it the third time and everything was fine. We weren’t sure why the first 2 requests were ignored but it was slightly stressful having to organise this when it should have been a straightforward request and we had an early international flight to catch.

Positive: Our room was well-equipped and comfortable. The quiet roof-top pool had some fruit bats flying over at sunset which was super-special and memorable. Saving the best for last - excellent menu and dinner was delicious.

Positive: We stayed one night at the Ceylon Ayu after leaving a homestay in Ella. I booked this for a luttle luxury after some more basic accommodation. Although the hotel rooms were spacious & well equipped & the linen & towels were fresh, clean & high quality, overall the service & food were average for the price. The pool area was lovely & the view of the hills was very relaxing. We enjoyed using the loungers, & having pool towels was a plus. The hotel staff were very accommodating when a member of our group had an injury & allowed a late check out so he could rest while the rest of us visited Kandy. I would say this is a good place to stay, with aspirations of providing luxury accommodation & dining which are still evolving in terms of delivery.

Negative: Communication was good through booking.com but communication on arrival was poor. We stood around in the reception without any explanation after a long journey . Eventually we were shown to our rooms, but it felt as if there was a lack of interest in learning about our needs & how the staff could assist in making the visit to Kandy a great experience. In our previous accommodation the hosts were exceptional in helping with transport, recommending restaurants etc, but this was missing here & would make a positive difference to getting the most out of our stay.

Positive: It’s great to be out of the madness of the city in a reasonably quiet location. The young man at reception and the two in reception are fabulous. Big room, clean, good food.

Negative: We could easily have asked for a blanket I’m sure, but would be good to be given the option of one rather than just a sheet.

Positive: It was nice to be slightly out of the main Kandy town, peaceful and relaxing after full days site seeing. Hotel staff very helpful and the roof top restaurant was wonderful for breakfast and evening meals. We had one lovely lunch too. Nothing was too much trouble!

Negative: Some people may feel the hotel was too far from Kandy. We found it ideal. The rooftop pool was great too. It was also quiet at night

Summary: A quiet retreat with excellent all day restaurant away from the bustle of Kandy. Perfect.
