Positive: If you're looking for a relaxed and more authentic stay near Chania, this place ticks all the boxes. The village is only 4 kms from the Old Town, with the bus stop around the corner. Three quality tavernas are within walking distance, each with a distinct flavour and each worth visiting. The village has a supermarket, bakery and a Kafeneio with the cheapest beer we found in Crete. There are also some wonderful hikes nearby including the road to Theriso Gorge and the old Kastellos ruins above the Transfigaration monastery. Castello casa is a modern, wonderfully restored home which has every amenity you need. The bed is comfortable, the kitchen is practical and the home had good air conditioning. The balcony has great views over the village. The home is quiet, clean, well located and very affordable. The owners Natasha and Vagelis go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Costello casa is a brilliant choice for accommodation if you wish to experience Chania away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We loved it!
