Summary: I enjoyed my stay in Chianni at this home. The accommodations were just what I needed as a base of operations to explore the region. I easily visited Vinci, San Gimignano, Volterra, etc. A lovely quiet town from which to explore the region! The host was friendly, accommodating and assisted me with all my needs while at her home. Highly recommended!

Summary: My wife and I have just returned from a weeks stay in this very well equipped apartment in the village of Chianni. We were made to feel totally at home by the Roberta and her father who apart from both being a source of valuable local information, treated us to some of their local chianti which was much appreciated. The village has a few interesting shopping experiences and a local bar where you can get your fix of espresso or vino any time of day. Chianni is well located for visiting the main attractions of the area namely Firenze (Florence), Pisa, Sienna, but we much preferred the smaller towns of San Gimignano, Certaldo, Volterra to name a few. We are keen amateur photographers and this area presents many opportunities at virtually every turn of the road. There is a particularly good sunrise vista on the opposite side of the road from the apartment looking across the rolling hills of the valley below. A couple of tips:- 1. When visiting Florence by car consider parking at Scandicci and taking the tram in to the city. Parking is free in the area of the tram station and a return ticket in to the city is 2.40Euro. This is much cheaper than the city car parks (if you can get in to one!). The tram ride takes about 10 minutes and runs very frequently. 2. At the apartment the TV's give limited access to english channels. I have for some time now used an Android app 'FilmOn Live TV' that delivers world wide TV channels to your phone. The addition of a HDMI cable in to the TV (the one in the kitchen) and bingo... It does of course rely on a reasonable wifi connection, the one at the apartment is excellent. Altogether a great holiday experience, we particularly liked the apples complete with their 'famille' in the centres, Roberta will know what I mean. Thanks again, we may well see you again in the future.

Summary: The apartment occupies the first floor of a traditional Tuscan stone house on the main street of Chianni. There are fantastic views over the valley, particularly from the kitchen balcony and from the delightful private garden (although you must cross the road to reach the latter). The village centre is just a few hundred metres away, with bars, shops and resuaurants. The warm welcome from the owners was very pleasant, and Franco in particular would drop in very welcome gifts of wine, oil and the produce from his garden. I would recommend this apartment whether you would wish to stay and enjoy village life, or if you want to use it as a base to explore Tuscany.

Summary: We had an absolutely wonderful time in chianni. It is a quiet little town between Florence and Pisa. We were able to spend 1 day in Florence, 1 day in Pisa/chinque terre and 1 day in Tuscany wine tasting. If you go wine tasting Podere Spazzavento is great and it is very near the apartment. The host was very sweet and made us feel very welcome. We would definitely recommend it.

Summary: We stayed in this delightful apartment in February 2012, at the time that Italy was experiencing its coldest winter for almost thirty years! However, the weather did not detract from our enjoyment of this warm and cosy apartment, which has gas central heating and is comfortably furnished to a good standard. The kitchen is well equipped and there is free satellite television with a couple of English language channels (BBC World News as an example). The apartment is an authentic Tuscan home, set in a village, which has all amenities within walking distance. There are small grocer shops, butcher, chemist, newsagents as well as some small gift shops. There are two local bars for a morning cappuccino or a late drink and the local hotel do evening meals. There are also bars and restaurants within a reasonable driving distance. The apartment was scrupulously clean and we took the linen hire option, meaning the beds were made up with crisp white linen and there was a plentiful supply of towels. What really made the holiday was the effort put in by the owners to make you feel welcome. We were given gifts of local wines and home-made olive oil, which were devoured almost within hours. The owners live opposite and did not intrude in any way on our holiday, yet were there if we wanted to ask questions. Very kind and sincere, it was a pleasure to do business with them and it added to our enjoyment of this area. We stayed when the area was covered in snow and it was quite an experience. It really is a beautiful setting and whilst winter is pretty, the summer would be stunning. You get wonderful views from the apartment. If you are from the UK, a few tips. This is Italy and if you arrive on Saturday, be aware that when the shops close at about 8pm, you will not get provisions until they open again on Monday. Make sure you have enough to see you through or the wine will go straight to your head! English is not widely spoken but you will get by in all the local shops as the people are kind and helpful. Chianni was easy to find using our GPS (we’ve given up map reading, less arguments!) and is about an hour from Pisa airport. There is a train station in Pontedera and a trip to Florence by train is a nice way to see the countryside. Our adult son also went to Rome by train. Touring the local area is great. Thanks to the owners for being such generous hosts. We are considering a return trip in the future. a family of adults from Wales
