Dating from 1937, the house was restored in order to maintain the traditional Mariense architecture and value the materials originally used in its construction such as stone, clay and wood. Despite its rustic character the house is equipped with all the facilities.

Summary: A great part of the mystery and beauty of Santa Maria resides in its rugged agricultural landscapes. This property offers a chance to immerse yourself in this context in a thoughtfully renovated farmhouse where the breeze off the sea is almost always present and great walking trails start at the end of the lane. Joana and Laurinda are kind and attentive hosts. The property is well equipped and very comfortable (though we would have liked an alternative to the K pod coffee machine, the pods for which seem to be virtually unobtainable in the neighbourhood). The collection of books, maps, and information was very helpful in filling in gaps in our understanding about the island and its history. We're ready to book again!
