Positive: Huge shout out to Mary who contacted me before we got there and helped get us settled. McCarthy is a unique place and getting to and from the cabins can be tough, but not with Mary! She picked us up from just over the bridge and we could reach her at any time (Verizon only!). She not only put us in a great cabin to accommodate our son, but also made sure to take care of our bags while we got a last hike in. She made our experience great. I know the bathrooms seemed like an issue, but they were fine. Going to McCarthy means you're off the grid and even for city people like us the bathrooms were clean and usable.

Positive: Our family's stay at the cabins will be one to remember: comfortable beds, hot showers, thoughtful touches, and an incredible staff. Conveniently located off the beaten path but within a 15 minute walk of the small town of McCarthy, the cabins' proximity to the Kennecott Mine and Root Glacier were fantastic, including the easy shuttle to go to and from. The cabins even offer day use rentals of crampons to explore the glacier! Coordination with the cabin staff was seamless; they were all so hospitable! We particularly appreciated all the recommendations from Mary. :)

Negative: That we couldn't stay longer.

Positive: Sooo adorable and friendly staff! Loved these cabins so much!! 10/10 recommend

Negative: Location was tough but No fault of the property- they gave great directions! McCarthy is tough in the dark with all the trails and roads intersecting if you don’t have a four wheeler. This was my fault though bc we got in so late! I recommend future stayers look at maps prior to losing phone service and trying to find your way boozed up in the dark in bear country. Again all my fault! Otherwise amazing 10/10

Summary: Quaint, comfortable, so Alaskan. Loved it

Positive: Really great place, middle of nowhere, great service, pickup from the airport and wonderful cabin with limited comfort but that we knew upfront.

Summary: fantastic stay in the bush, nice hosts and the cabin was effectively equipped :-)

Positive: The cabins were quaint and new. The shuttle picked us up and delivered us to the footbridge

Negative: No electricity, or electric outlets. Solar power (?) powered two weak light bulbs. Could not get the propane heater to work and no way to contact hosts since our cell phones did not work there. Outhouse was small and crampt.
