House by the sea, located in a prime area of São Miguel Island - Caloura, 3 minutes walk from Porto da Caloura. It is a comfortable, comfortable family home that has been in the owners family for 4 generations. It offers its guests free high speed WIFI, dishwasher and laundry.
The house is divided over two floors. On the first floor there is a large living room with fireplace, garden view and exit, large fully equipped kitchen, 1 bathroom and two walk-in bedrooms.
On the second floor there are 4 bedrooms, 1 bedroom suite with double bed, 1 bedroom with 2 single beds, the 3rd and 4 bedroom with double bed.
Outside there is a large private garden with seating area, lawn, various plants and in the background has a magnificent view of the sea and islet of Vila Franca.
The house and garden are reserved exclusively for its guests. They have access to the garden and all the amenities of the house.
You will be welcomed by the owners João and Manuela who will be waiting for you to hand over the key, explain the operation of the house and give some valuable tips for your visit to the island of São Miguel.

Summary: Joao's house is beautiful, with room for 8 people. If you like gardens, you will love this place. The garden is absolutely lovely, with a beautiful view of the coast from one spot. Hot tub, BBQ, all great. Nice location walking distance from 2 good restaurants. Very warm and friendly host.

Summary: The property is awesome - especially the outdoor space, which includes a great yard and gardens as well as a trail to an ocean vista. The hosts are so nice. Helpful, accommodating and friendly. Best vacation rental I’ve stayed in.

Summary: Our family (spouse, two teenagers, and grandmother) really enjoyed our stay at this lovely property. The owners live next door and were very accommodating to our 10:30pm arrival and very knowledgeable. The neighborhood has two local restaurants and an ocean swimming pool. It was convenient (with a rental car) to all of the island. We would stay there again for sure.

Summary: Everything about this property was beautiful. The large yard is meticulously maintained and with a short walk out back you can view the ocean and cliffs. The house comfortably accommodated 7 family members ranging in age from 10-73. We were able to walk to Bar Caloura and Adega Caloura restaurants and Caloura Pools. We would definitely recommend the house and would stay again!

Summary: When visiting Sao Miguel, you will want to drive all over the island, so deciding where to stay can be difficult, everything is a drive away. Caloura is a sleepy, quiet town that was so perfect for our group of 7, and our adventure all around the island. And this house was incredible for the times we wanted to relax. Just to clarify the sleeping situation, as their VRBO listing isn't worded correctly. Downstairs, one bedroom with a double bed and one bathroom. Upstairs one Master Suite, one bathroom, one bedroom with a double bed and one with two twin beds. Three bedrooms total. Joao and Manuela are a delight! They live next door and with our 10 day stay they stopped in a couple of times, they met us upon arrival to go through using the gate and keys and such, the gardeners came a couple of times and they came at the halfway point to clean, change sheets and towels. Wonderful thing that not all rentals do. The yard is one of the most beautiful yards I have ever relaxed in, with so many seating options, outdoor cooking, we enjoyed every spot and my boys enjoyed playing soccer and frisbee on the large grass. Spa going in soon! And take the walk to the back, you can't get down to the water but the view is breathtaking and there are chairs out there to enjoy it. Kitchen has more than you need, with a small fridge and stove/oven, washer and dryer too. Worth every penny on this rental, I highly recommend it.

Summary: We had such a lovely stay here with our family. The property is more beautiful in person and the care and details that John and Manuela put into the house is outstanding. We had open fire bbq, enjoyed the different dinning places, loved the sounds of the birds and animals. The bedrooms and house were well equipped, and very clean. We were a 3 minute walk to Bar Caloura and the pier to go swimming and had easy access off the main highway to get to all destinations - Furnas, Setes Cidel, Villa Franco. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning.

Summary: My husband and I in addition to one other couple stayed in this House by the Sea for 5 nights in the beginning of June. The owners are very nice and the house was wonderful, and exceeded my expectations! It was very spacious, clean, as well as traditionally and tastefully decorated. It had everything we needed, and we were even welcomed with some fruits and homemade jams. In addition to the great house, is a great outdoor area behind the house. There is a large backyard with plenty of lounge chairs and table seating, and the real treat was the owner's HUGE garden that extended beyond the backyard. It is very beautiful and nice to walk around. We also found this to be an excellent location. It is in a great area, as well as easy driving to many of the islands sites. Most things are within 20 minutes, and the furthest behind Nordeste was maybe 40-45 min drive away. I recommend booking whale watching in the next door village of Villa Franca da Campo. Note that that is not right on a beach, but can get to a nearby beach within 10 minutes. If you stay here, you will not be disappointed!
