Beachbach16 is a quintessential 1950s Kiwi Bach located in the idyllic small seaside village of Kakanui on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand.

Our unique and authentic family Bach with its relaxed, laidback & unpretentious style, offers a comfortable & casual retreat with easy access to the ocean and its many activities. The Bach has all the essentials you need for a great getaway in a serene & scenic beach setting.

The Bach essentials include a compact full kitchen & lounge area with a heat pump, Wi-Fi, TV & DVD (plenty of classics in our DVD library to choose from). Sleeping for 6 consists of 1 x double bed & 2 x single bunk beds in the main Bach area. The sleepout has 1 x double bed & 1 x single bunk bed. Shower & separate toilet with unlimited hot water. A large deck with stunning coastal views extends the living space for outdoor entertainment. Laundry located outside & ample off-street parking with room for the boat & water sports toys.

Summary: Nice homely property. Very kid friendly with a big fenced deck. I felt I was able to sit back and relax. Would of loved to stay longer.

Summary: Stayed with 6 adults didnt find it crampt was exactly what was listed and is a traditional kiwi bach. Only stayed 2nights wish we had of booked longer. Beautiful views lovely beaches short trip to oamaru and awesome friendly neighbours who helped with a flat tyre would totally book again might even plan my next trip.

Summary: I see that if the cleaning fee is something everyone that books to stay at this Bach has to pay you would except the property to be clean when you do stay here, dropped my phone while charging it in the main bedroom under the bed, found so many flies under the bed at the head board end of the bed, also house smells quite weird if you don’t open the windows so dusty was not good for my asthma, needed to use my inhaler the whole weekend which showed how dusty the property really was, Also so many bugs inside that looked almost like ticks, partner was constantly getting rid of them, Main bedroom door doesn’t even close, windows almost jammed up, couldn’t even open those windows again, sleep out door don’t even lock, the 2 bedrooms in the main house have been repaired with plaster but looks so dodgy, main bedroom ceiling almost looked like it could fall at any time, but the ocean view was the only thing we enjoyed the cleanliness was not up to standards.

Summary: Beds comfortable. Very small and no storage for clothes or food. DVD player but no remote so could watch a multiple episode dvd. The internal sofas are actually outdoor furniture so not as comfortable as it could be. Had questions for owner who was responsive to txts. Notice wifi router installed but owner does not offer wifi access which is poor in this day and age.

Summary: Nice place to stay but it is a classic kiwi Bach - dont expect 5 star luxury. Rooms are cramped. Outside bedroom has no services. But you can have a chilled break, cook a meal, good shower (mixer from the 70's but a good one), lounge on the deck...maybe over priced but it's kind of unique these days!

Summary: We did wonder why there were no inside photos, inside wasn’t fantastic for the price. Seating was basic outdoor style furniture, not very comfortable. Some general safety repairs could be addressed ie broken bottom step onto deck, railings on deck were rusted right through. In saying that we had a very relaxing weekend.
