Positive: The views were 2nd to none. Surrounded by snow capped mountains. The wood fire kept us warm in late June. The beds were comfortable. The house was old (as described) and not updated but this was expected. Everything worked. The staff at checkin were very friendly and helpful with directions.

Negative: The musty smell. The kitchen window had no lock on it.

Summary: We loved the experience and location of this property. Generally, ALWAYS go to Aoraki Mt Cook Village with food supplies

Positive: The chalet was tucked away in it's own private space. Although a bit rustic (as advertised) it was charming and quite comfortable. It had everything supplied to make for a very comfortable stay. The beds were comfy with nice linens, and towels were provided. The kitchen was very well stocked down with utensils dishes etc with coffee ,tea and milk in the fridge. Most special was the magnificent view and surrounding nature which felt like it belonged only to us!

Negative: When we initially opened the door there was a bit of a musty smell that greeted us. I hesitated momentarily thinking I may have made a mistake in booking this. However once we settled in the smell was not noticeable and the overall place more than compensated for the initial impression. A few minor things; the rectangular hearth under the old wood stove in the kitchen is a toe stubbing/tripping hazard. I'd also recommend getting rid of the furry throws on the chairs as they seem to be a bit of a germ and dust magnet and in my opinion detract from the overall feel of the place. Lastly, on our way back from a hike, one of us urgently needed a rest room. She went into the main office where we paid and picked up our keys, hoping to use their restroom. The person at the front desk refused to let her use theirs. Thought this was wrong.
