Positive: What a property!! Owner, manager, and staff were way beyond expectations! Most relaxing and accommodating 4 days we have had in a long time. We have traveled to many different countries and have never felt so welcome! We saw so many different animals; spider monkeys, howler monkeys (a terrifying sound at 3am), several different kinds of lizards, frogs, toads, and birds. Never once felt like and outsider even with our limited spanish. We feel that we made lifelong friends at this little hidden gem!

Negative: With the high humidity this time of year, and being used to A/C living in Texas, (plus being a bit oversized) it was a little sweaty and hot but quickly acclimated. It can be a surprise but part of the adventure. And the pier could use some updating but didn't bother us at all.

Summary: 17 year old sons first time out of country and cant stop talking about it!

Positive: It’s a very quiet oasis of greenery within walking distance of the lake, staffed by absolutely welcoming staff

Negative: If you are short in time and only staying one night as I did, this may not be the most economical choice. I arrived in Flores after the last collectivo departed to El Remate (ie past 18:30) and the only taxi that would take me from the airport cost me 3 times the room I had booked (250 GTQ). My mistake not to check upfront how to get there as the collectivo was about 60 GTQ. Check your arrival times .

Positive: Great value for money. Beautiful environment, surrounded by nature and peace. Nice menu. Super cute hut to sleep in. Felt nice to be a little away from the “obvious” location of Flores Island. I would have liked to have stayed a little longer, one night wasn’t really enough.

Negative: A bird flew into our hut from the ?roof and scared us, it flapped around a while and then vanished. Similarly, there were a lot of free range animals (a dog, some chickens, a cat, a duck/goose type bird) which some may find unnerving. I actually quite liked this, but one morning the chickens literally approached us at breakfast en masse and drove my friend out of her chair as they tried to eat off our plates. Personally I found this endearing, but I guess it might scare some people. The key being attached to a key safe by chain was a little awkward. Again, I liked this element but my friend struggled with the outdoor shower and finding warm water there. I managed, and I enjoyed the novelty of an outdoor shower but just select your room choice carefully to meet your expectations. Not the properties issue, but the water level of the lake is very high and the wooden docks / platforms around the lake were virtually submerged during our visit so we couldn’t make the most of the (almost) lakeside location. A little slow to respond to queries.

Positive: It is a beautiful setting in the jungle. The restaurant is amazing, the beds are very comfortable. Clean drinking water provided.

Negative: Cannot use the kitchen.

Positive: Really peaceful property surrounded by beautiful nature. The dorm room was so comfortable and the outside bathroom was so beautifully designed. The dorm was full the second night so I stayed in a private room which had a balcony with a hammock where I could watch the monkeys nearby. The food in the restaurant was all great. It was easy to arrange a van to Tikal in the morning from the end of the road. It was also easy to get a tuk tuk to pick up a bus to the Belize border crossing when I left. Definitely recommend if you want to see and hear howler monkeys from your room and experience the sounds of the jungle at night.

Positive: Alice and the staff were great! They were kind, thoughtful, and incredibly helpful. Alice helped me set up transportation and a number of tours and was very willing to answer any questions. She even helped a group of travelers who were sick set up a nurse's visit. The setting of the dining area is beautiful and the food is really nice.
