Set in a small hamlet, these carefully converted holiday cottages form a courtyard development where every care has been taken with the design, internal furnishings and their impact on the environment. Bell’s Barn (prop ref 25899) stands detached from the other cottages and is suitable for wheelchair users. There is also enclosed paddock where your dogs can run free! Just a short walk from Crakehall, claimed to be one of the prettiest villages in the Dales, with a large village green overlooked by an imposing manor house where cricket and quoits teams often play. Nearby, the historic town of Bedale, 2½ miles, offers a weekly market every Tuesday and various events during the year, together with a range of individual shops, restaurants and pubs. Masham, renowned for the Black Sheep Brewery, is 10 minutes’ drive and Richmond with its Norman castle, Georgian architecture and thriving theatre is also easily accessible. Historic York and its many attractions is within easy driving distance. Alternatively, just enjoy the wonderful Yorkshire countryside either by car, bicycle or on foot. Shop and pub ¾ mile. Summary: Located in very quiet hamlet on the very outskirts of Bedale, these cottages are excellent for a relaxing break. The only drawback is the need to drive (unless you fancy a mile walk) to the nearest pub or shop. Summary: This cottage is perfectly situated for exploring the area - nice and close to A1M and pretty central between the coast and the Yorkshire Dales. Overall we had a fabulous break and the cottage was excellent. A couple of niggles - due to Covid the cottage was cleaned thoroughly between lettings, and this was evident in most places, but unfortunately whoever cleaned did not look up...... we spent the first half hour of our visit with the hoover, hoovering up cobwebs and spiders from the ceilings in all the rooms. Apart from that everything was very clean. The only other niggle was the master bedroom bed was extremely uncomfortable. Really hard and creaky. I think we got used to it, but it was lovely to sleep in our own bed when we got home. The single beds were much better! That aside the cottage was lovely. Two patio areas with seating, well equipped kitchen and good quality bathrooms. Both bedrooms were completely self contained with en-suites which was lovely. The area is fabulous to visit. We miles in the two weeks we were there. Top places to visit - Aysgarth Falls, Malham Cove, Knaresborough, Castle Howard, York, Yorkshire Air Museum, Thorp Perrow Arboretum, Thirsk Bird of Prey Centre, Fountains Abbey, Ribblehead Viaduct, Brimham Rocks.
