This traditional, red sandstone barn has been tastefully converted to create two holiday homes which retain a good deal of charm and character. Surrounded by stunning scenery, the cottages stand on the edge of the picturesque and peaceful small fellside village of Dufton, which has a good pub on the village green and is on the Pennine Way. There is excellent walking and cycling from the doorstep and one of the highlights is High Cup Nick which is a spectacular geological feature and walkers are rewarded with an amazing view along the Eden Valley to the Lakeland fells. The ancient, attractive market town of Appleby, 3 miles, stands on the River Eden and is on the famous and scenic Carlisle to Settle train line. Dufton provides a good base from which to explore the contrasting but equally beautiful Lakes and Dales National Parks. The Scottish border and Hadrian’s Wall are also an easy, pretty drive away. Have an afternoon tea at the tea room, 200 yards. Shop 3 miles, pub with restaurant 200 yards.

Summary: Stunning property the hens that visit are a joy the dogs barking are a nuisance but not intolerable we left a day early as our little dog wouldn't settle we know for next time to leave her at home with family absolutely loved the birds singing and watching working sheepdogs herding sheep up the roads stunning location

Summary: Wonderful base to visit Lakes and Yorkshire. Not too far from Appleby for all groceries. Very clean and well furnished. Very comfortable beds. Good central heating with wood burner option. Summary: The cottage is excellent. The location was a little noisy especially with a dog barking incessantly down the road.The village itself is known to be windy something we found out after we booked and it did live up to that! Summary: Beautiful cottage, fantastic location. Perfect place to destress and unwind. Great dog walks on your doorstep. Have stayed here several times, everytime has been spotlessly clean. Will definitely be returning.
