These two 16th-century barn conversions, two of three, are situated in the grounds of the owner’s home. They were once stables of the Mayor of Exeter, then became a workshop, and now are two delightful holiday cottages. Both are decorated and furnished uniquely and offer an ideal base from which to explore East Devon. Situated in the picturesque hamlet of Fluxton, nestled at the foot of rolling hills which ascend from the River Otter, located 2 miles from Ottery St Mary and 5 miles from Sidmouth.
The area is dominated by lush green hills, wooded valleys and the dramatic Jurassic Coast. An ideal location to walk the Jurassic Coastline, taking in Beer, Sidmouth and Seaton. There are plenty of activities all within easy reach, including cycling, horse riding, birdwatching and many National Trust properties. Exeter’s 2000 year old history is reflected in its heritage attractions, such as the Gothic St Peter’s Cathedral and the Roman city wall. Summary: Warm welcoming spotlessly clean and very comfortable cottage. We enjoyed every moment of our short stay in this delightfully quaint and homely cottage. Lovely touches like milk and chocolate biscuits in the fridge and a kindly visit on arrival. Those looking for modern 5* Hotel facilities may be disappointed but anyone wanting a genuine gorgeous retreat would be delighted. We will definitely return.

Summary: Charming and quaint little cottage. Warm and cosy due to the aga being on constantly ( not sure how one copes in the hot summer months though). Lovely owner and nothing too much trouble. Very quiet and peaceful. Could be a bit rural for some as down a narrow country lane and about 2 miles to nearest shop etc.

Summary: This is the first time we have had a cottage with stairs and find we prefer one floor. There was no shower which was difficult for us as the bath was difficult with our mobility issues. The aga was more difficult than a regular stove but as we ate out mostly it was not a problem
