Positive: Very spacious house on rural area near the ocean. Nice getaway from the masses of Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka. Can wash laundry. Confortable bed. Kitchen is a plus. Good bath.

Positive: This is such a gorgeous place to stay, with beautiful furnishings and comfortable seating and beds. Good wifi, bikes for hire and lots of space. Riko was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. In the summer I think this would be a really wonderful place to stay.

Negative: Unfortunately, we stayed in January and we just could not get warm. Riko did warn us and said to do whatever we needed but nothing was going to warm it up because it is an old building. It was like camping. We had air conditioning up full, doors shut, but there was still a breeze from outside, and it was -1. I think it would be great in summer but it was too cold to sleep sadly. We also had to run down the freezing hallway to get anything from other areas like kitchen / bathroom. The sink is also other end of the property from the toilet too, which is a bit odd but can’t be helped. Location is quite far from Odawara station and castle, we ended up getting taxi arriving and leaving as we had lots of luggage.

Positive: The owner preserved the original house design but added cute interior design items, so overall the atmosphere is very nice. They have heaters in every room, kitchen and bathroom so even in the middle of winter, cold is not an issue. The kitchen is well stocked, they even have spices for cooking such a soy-souce, cooking oil etc. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay!

Negative: The windows in the ceiling of each bedroom were quite a hassle, since the rooms got bright at 6:30 in the morning and woke us all up…

Negative: The toilet which is at the end of the corridor is very cold in winter as heater can’t reach those places.

Positive: Spacious and very comfortable with two bicycles available; we rode them to visit Odawara Port.

Negative: The building is an old structure and most of the renovation work is really done well and left a lot of charm. Just know some things like the front door may be challenging to close & lock properly, etc.
