Positive: Zarya is a lovely, very clean guesthouse on the riverbank in Karakol, which is simply but stylishly appointed. It was a treat spending time on the balcony as the river flowed by. The host was very attentive and spoke excellent English. The breakfast, included in the price, was tasty and a welcome break from the ubiquitous fried eggs and scary sausage that's usually served in this part of the world. A laundry service is available at an extra fee. We really enjoyed our stay here and wished we could have stayed longer.

Negative: Both beds in our room were very creaky and squeaked loudly every time we moved or turned over. Our friend, who was in another room, didn't have that experience.

Positive: The owner is a phenomenal person and he was an awesome host. All the shortcomings don't matter anymore (no sink, no curtains). Who cares? Great location as well
