Positive: The ryokan is amazing, food is generous and not only that the free flow drinks feels nice. Fans of japanese food would love this place. Amenities are generous, hotspring are very amazing with lots of amenities. You would be confused on how this ryokan even makes money with all the free stuff they give.

Negative: The room is dated and old. The bathroom has moldy patches here and there, and there is a lack of cleaning that should be much more attentive.

Summary: Sometimes fix whats not broken requires a bit renovation to keep up.

Positive: Although slightly obstructed by taller buildings, the room offers a somewhat nice view of the lake. The public bath was great especially the open-air bath.

Positive: The free flow of 5 types of Sake from Hokkaido was a welcomed surprise that I appreciated. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly.

Negative: Room was quite old. We have to set up the 3rd bed ourselves.

Positive: Lovely ryokan just a very short walk to the shores of Lake Toya. Great onsen (both indoor and outdoor). Loved that it has guest area and with a selection of complementary sake, macaroons and mochi. We had the kaiseki dinner (choice of 3 types ranging from 4400-8800yen/per person). Breakfast had a good selection of traditional Japanese food. We stayed during Golden week so there wasn’t much in the way of choice in town at all. Dog friendly also (we would have brought ours if we could).

Negative: Whilst it didn’t bother us, it is a little dated, so if you are looking for a western type 5 star experience, this isn’t that, but there is charm in a traditional ryokan.
