Positive: I chose this location based on it being billed as family-friendly, and it totally delivered on that aspect as far as the onsens/public baths are concerned. I (mother) was traveling with my son, and I really wanted him to have that experience, and it felt safe and comfortable for him.

Negative: The provided breakfasts and dinners were definitely fancy and authentic, but for first-time visitors to Japan, a little overwhelming to us with the novelty of it all. But, if you're looking for the real deal, and healthy and unique and adventurous, this is your place! The most disappointing part of our stay was the incessant motoring that cycled the entire night for the air-conditioning just outside our window. We tried to play white noise on my phone to cover it up, but it was just too loud. The property should really look into an A/C that doesn't need to cycle up a motor constantly. It really hurt our sleep.

Summary: Absolutely stunning surroundings, and it was a fantastic place to experience my first onsen.

Positive: Even though we had a "private" room for meals, we could still hear other groups. They all sounded very happy. That was a good thing. There is nothing worse than staying at a location where the other visitors are loud, drunk, and obnoxious. These people were just having a good time.

Positive: The location is great but you need to use the shuttle provided by the ryokan. The outside baths are very good and relaxing. Food is great as is the atmosphere.

Negative: The inside baths need renovation.

Positive: The dinner was exceptional. A set menu was served and each dish was delicious. Staff was very kind and friendly.

Negative: It's a bit older facility that is being renovated step by step. So the parts that weren't renovated yet might dampen someone's experience.

Positive: Super friendly and welcoming staff, we were able to communicate even though not all of them spoke English. Authentic atmosphere, very nice territory and quiet nature, perfect time to enjoy silence and peace. Comfortable and punctual shuttle service. Wonderful dinner experience, it was great to have English description for all the dishes we ate. Beautiful onsens, it's a pity people with tattoos aren't allowed into public ones, but at least there is a possibility of visiting private outdoor and indoor onsens.

Negative: The outdoor onsens were closed in the morning of our stay. The weather was very cold during our stay and it was freezing in the part of the room where there wasn't heating with air conditioning, so we couldn't stay outside our room for long. We tried to sleep without heating at night but it was uncomfortable due to big temperature difference under the thick blankets and in the room air.

Positive: The semi-outdoor hotspring bath inside the hotel room was superb. The room was very comfortable, spacious, clean, and quiet, with nice decor. The room overlooked a beautiful garden. The Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were served in the room and were very delicious. The hotel staff provided excellent, warm and personalised service. The hotel was located a distance away from downtown Himeji, near a forested area with beautiful scenery. Free shuttle bus service was available. This hotel was a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate the body, mind and soul. Our experience was wonderful.
