Negative: Sometimes the water came out black and smelt like sulphur, need a bigger fan room was really hot

Positive: The people who run the place are so lovely! The room is clean and big with a nice balcony. The bathroom is also spotless clean! They cooked me the best dinner for the best price. Please have dinner at there place! Also the breakfast is so good (and much!). The location is great! Very green, lush and quiet, but still close to shops and restaurants. Also close to the fruitbat-viewing place, only 20 minutes walk. My shared-whole-day-safari was also organised by them and it was really good for a fair price! The driver/guide called Dilanka Rukmal, he was veey good. We saw 4 leopards and several elephants, including a baby one. Just book this place and enjoy!

Positive: Amazing homestay in Tissa! We loved our stay and the hosts were kind, and went the extra mile to make our stay memorable and comfortable. We were provided a welcome drink of fresh fruit juice, hot sweet tea before we went to see the bats at the viewpoint a short walk from the property and on the morning of our safari, plus the breakfast and dinner (which you must get) were extremely tasty and great value for money. There are also spotted deer who come to the property which we were shown by our hosts. A tip for future bookers - the hosts also provide a safari which is competitively priced - we unfortunately had already booked a safari with another company which we could not cancel without a refund however we would have preferred to go through our hosts / Yala Eagle Nest as we believe he would be a great driver/tracker so we really recommend you book your safari through them!! Highly recommend Yala eagle nest!!

Positive: I stayed in many excellent guesthouse over the years but this one is very easily one of the top 3. The host will do anything to make your stay better. He’s just so incredibly helpful. The guesthouse has a very strategic location - very close to nearby sights and shops, while also really secluded and peaceful. Please do order dinner each evening. It’s cheap, the portion is enormous, and it was one of the best food I had on the island.

Negative: The WiFi wasn’t the most reliable but that seems to be an ever present problem in Sri Lanka

Positive: The place is run by a super kind family who did everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The breakfast is big and they can also provide a meal at night that is very very tasty and great value for money. We also booked a tour through them which was tailored to our requests. Would definitely recommend!
