Woodlands is blissfully peaceful cabin with an emphasis on nature in the heart of the Catskills, located 2.5 hours from NYC.
Set on 5+ private acres surrounded by woodland, the cabin has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Amenities include a a firepit, BBQ, and access to the best hiking and dining in the region. Red Hill Fire Tower is under 10 minutes away!

The Space:
Woodlands is a cabin tucked into the treetops, specializing in that all-too-elusive peace and quiet. In spring, summer and fall the spacious wraparound deck is the center of activity...and of tranquility, whichever is your thing. And then, of course, there are wonderful barbecues culminating with chats by the fire pit continuing on into the night.
Kids will revel in the adorable “Children’s House”, a playhouse scaled to kids’ size, complete with furniture and loft.
Perched on an incline, you can gaze out into the lush woods, listen to birds, perhaps the relaxing sound of the seasonal stream that runs alongside the house, or sometimes hear only the rustling of the leaves. Inside, there is a TV with cable located in the living room, and internet so guests can stay wired (you’d rather be hiking anyway, right?). And there are loads of games if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
The master bedroom is downstairs, just off the kitchen, and has its own entrance to the downstairs bathroom. Upstairs are two small bedrooms accessible by spiral staircase, but it should be noted that the ceiling slants and therefore full standing area is limited at the sides of the rooms. There are full beds in each of those bedrooms.
Claryville is a cozy mountain hamlet, with the Red Hill Fire Tower and the local swimming hole, just a couple miles away. There are wonderful State hiking trails too, like Slide Mountain.
The Neighborhood:
Woodlands, is located in the heart of the Catskills, in the hamlet of Claryville. This quaint town has lots of explore-worthy hikes and is central to a lot of the best towns in the region. Woodlands is 2.5 hours from New York City. In the winter, we recommend a car with four-wheel drive that can handle the snow and gravel roads.

Summary: We were looking for a house close to Frost Valley YMCA. It’s a 15 minute drive and was very accessible. The house is beautifully situated in the woods and has a wonderful veranda all the way around the outside. Sitting outside with coffee in the morning is a real treat. The house is well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. It is warm, but with all of the windows open and the fans, it was very comfortable at night. Wi-Fi worked well. Kitchen is small, but well appointed. Very clean.

Summary: The location is amazing. So rural and quiet! Great porch and outdoor area. Inside the living room furniture was not the most comfortable, but we didn't spend much time there. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans and plenty of glasses/cups, silverware and plates. There is no extra bedding, so plan on bringing extra blankets. There is also no laundry facilities and Laundromat are 12-15 miles away. Downstairs bedroom with full size bed was the worst. Bed was fine but bedframe was large and bulky and difficult to get around without whacking your knees. Would be better with a queen size mattress on Hollywood frame. Would take up the same footprint without the bruises. Overall, a neat house.

Summary: We had a really nice 4 day stay at this property. The cabin is very nice with a great deck where you will spend most of your time. Kitchen has about everything you'll need and was very clean. The bathrooms are modern. The property is in the Catskill Park and there are minimal shopping opportunities, so be sure to get food before you arrive. If you want peace and quiet this is the place.

Summary: We were happy with our stay. A nice home base for the Slide Mountain and Giant's Ledge hikes. A bit over an hour to Kaaterskills and or Minnewaska. A ton of porch space, not a ton of indoor hangout space if you're with a decent sized group (we were not). The only true hassle is just that the walk from the Car to the Front Door is rough and not illuminated. Plan to have a flashlight ready if you're arriving at night. You'll be carrying your stuff over rocks/gravel/dirt The large is yard but you're in the woods. Be aware of ticks and other insects on the property (not in the cabin itself!) The two bedrooms and the bathroom upstairs are accessible via a spiral staircase and connected via a wooden platform of slats. The slats had noticeable give when this 200lb person walked on them. Don't plan on a super tall or a big person being comfortable going upstairs. Again, it's a cabin. Set your expectations. Perspective wise, we thought we missed the house because a lot of the outside pictures are actually looking at the road. You look down at the house from the road, and park on the road as well. Tip for getting here (not a reflection of the property itself): Depending on where you're coming from, the GPS might take you from the east. This way involves several miles of seasonal dirt road that I don't recommend unless you're into that sort of thing. Our GPS took us there at night - not my favorite night drive. Coming from Claryville involves only a short bit of dirt road.
