Positive: Everything about Quinta do Ameal was spot on; location - perfect for exploring northern Portugal. With river activities just a stones throw away. The Quinta itself offers perfect isolation with accommodation spread out we felt like we were the only guests staying! Well manicured gardens, magical break out points where you can read, picnic, walk, swim or just be. The accommodation and in particular design was well considered with comfort at the top of the list. Service friendly and super accommodating - we really had the best three nights stay and will definitely be back!

Positive: What a special place! So beautiful and peaceful. Our studio was beautifully furnished, very clean and we loved the little touches like the fresh flowers, walnuts and toothpaste. The bathroom is so luxurious! Lovely breakfast & delicious coffee. We liked that we could choose and change each morning’s order. The staff were wonderful - very flexible and accommodating. We enjoyed the wine tour, river kayaking and local dinner, all of which the team helped us arrange.

Positive: It is an old estate perfectly renovated inside with a mix of modern equipment/furniture and the traditional pieces. The service was impeccable - we’ve heard the story of the winery, learned about the super technological production process and tasted the wines. The nature is gorgeous, we’ve done an energizing walk along Lima river, whose current sounds loud and has rapids. I would be happy to come visit this place again.

Negative: Everything was perfect! One thing maybe - the road to the estate is from the old times :-) but it adds to the adventure mood of searching for a hidden gem - Quinta - in a centenary forest!

Positive: Beautiful, peaceful property. The grounds are lush, pool area is so peaceful and gorgeous, and our room was spacious and very well appointed. The staff (Marianna and Hugo) were very knowledgeable and accommodating to all our needs. A lovely breakfast is delivered in a picnic basket each morning to your room. You choose from a list including cheese, meat, pastries, juice/milk, fruit, yogurt, homemade cake, etc. It was yummy! One of the oldest towns in Portugal, Ponte de Lima, is less than a 15 minute drive away. We had a great time visiting this lovely, quaint, historical town. Marianna also arranged a kayaking excursion for us on the Lima River. We had a blast and ended up being the only ones on it other than our guide!

Negative: The only suggestion we have is to somehow fit a small sofa in the downstairs living space so if you want to watch TV it would be more comfortable. Or, move the TV upstairs to the bedroom. We ended up camping out on the floor with cushions from the pool area so we could watch a movie in the evening. It was actually a lot of fun! LOL

Summary: The best! We will return in the future!!!
