Summary: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is as it's described, spectaclur views and a beautiful walk around the countryside. The house is comfortable and feels like home. Simonetta is very helpful and all information given. We found the location very handy for hilltop town visits. Overall great value for money.

Summary: I read many reviews before we chose to stay at the villa Ca Battista, in many ways it lived up to the majority 5 star reviews but in some ways fell short. To list the positives, firstly has to be location! Yes, we admit, the road is a little tricky, but well worth the trip! You could not choose a better view, absolutely stunning! First impressions of the barn conversion were promising and space was certainly not an issue. The surrounding countryside is awash with history and gorgeous architecture, no end of villages and cities to explore. The facilities are adequate for a holiday villa, I'm sure if anything was needed then it would be provided by the owner. Unfortunately my Italian translations only managed to figure out the dishwasher and washing machine... We never found the drier part! So the negatives, maybe I am used to more, but I have stayed in many villas now using Home and Away.com, and this one was just not ready for our arrival. The main bedroom curtains had to be de-bugged by about 10 of the green flying (crunchy) bugs and a few black beetles. There were dead spiders in the bath (which did not work as a jacuzzi at all), many cobwebs at reachable height, if they had been in the beams they would have been understandable. A room cleaned for new visitors would not, as we discovered on day 2, have had a previous guests earrings in the bedside drawer. The fridge did not keep anything cold despite being looked at by the handyman, on day 3 it decided to freeze everything :) On exterior was the most obvious signs of neglect however. The grass was overgrown and in need of cutting, the exterior kitchen area was unusable until cleaned by us. There were half deflated pool toys full of bugs on top of worktop area and table tennis equipment had definitely seen better days. The pool was not clean in any way, we spent a good hour before daring to go in it, cleaning it and removing dead and alive bugs on the surface and on the pool base. Again half dead inflatables and cushions for seats which were full of water from being left outside. No filters were switched on in pool for first three days of our stay. Bins outside were never emptied. Towels not replaced in 9 nights stay. This is not to say that we did not enjoy the villa, just that maintenance wise it needed TLC. I had no problem with the dogs free roaming,Tatu is gorgeous, but the barking could be annoying. Overall not as welcoming as others obviously found but thanks for the stay.

Summary: We spent wonderful two weeks in Ca' Battista. The house is spacious, reasonably well equipped and beautifully designed. In contrast to other reviews, we did not have any troubles with the Wifi - worked very well. The pool is just great with a stunning view. The kids fell immediately in love with Tatu, the world's sweetest truffle dog and greatest shoe kidnapper. There is a lot to see in the area - we went to Cagli, Urbino, Fano and Gradara (all very nice) and also made a trip to Perugia - but there is much more to see. We also spent a lot of time at Ca' Battista enjoying the pool, playing on the lawn or table-tennis or trying out the pizza oven. Swimming in the Burano river is a must - in particular in the hot summer months. Many thanks indeed to Simonetta who is a wonderful host, very helpful and discrete, with lots of good advice whenever needed. We will certainly be back!

Summary: We spent one week at Ca' Battista and found it to be an exceptionally wonderful place. Simonetta and her son Samuel were extremely helpful. For a small charge they made us an elaborate four course meal on arrival, including great local wines. If we had a question or a problem, they were always there to help. The photos simply can't do justice to the view, which is expansive and amazing. The road to the house is a bit rough, but not too bad. The house itself was extremely comfortable and reasonably well equipped. The pool was clean and a nice temperature and took full advantage of the view, and we had many nice meals on the outdoor patio. A couple of small quibbles: Though Simonetta really tried and helped us with the wifi, it is not a great system. Adequate, usable, but not great. And we wish there had been screens on the big door/windows in the main upstairs bedroom. But the beds and baths were fine, the kitchen perfectly good, and the feeling of the place one of complete peace and beauty. It's a short drive into Cagli, a small, unknown city we really loved (try Giocondo restaurant), and a half hour drive into Fano, another nice, ancient city (try Bella Napoli). In all, our stay here more than met our expectations. We had three teenage girls with us and there was plenty of room. You won't be disappointed with this marvelous corner of Italy. Thank you, Simonetta for your hospitality!

Summary: My best part of my summer holidays was this stay in Ca' Battista, Cagli. I had booked for me and my children, all of very different ages 22-19-10, and this holiday turned out to be a great experience. The location is absolutely stunning and apart from relaxing by the beautiful swimming pool, we all also managed to tour and enjoy the beauties of the region. An easy day to Urbino, a town not to miss out on, some shopping around the outlets and a day diving in the crystal waters of the river spring. We had it all...for everybody. I am a single mother and my stay was even more made pleasant from the presence of the owner, Simonetta. We had chats and 'aperitivos' and for me a real immersion in the italian lifestyle! My elder daughters were partecipating too. My son had the pool, nature, the countryside and the river spring which he still remembers as something unique. Thank you Simonetta for your warm welcome. You are so lucky to enjoy this place as much as you like. I will certainly be back very soon! Georgina

Summary: You are driving the car along a country road uphill (like shown on a TV clip for SUV's :-) in the middle of nowhere. You are reaching a small forest, where you can recognize some buildings. At this time you feel like an adventurer. I am a hero, I brought my family safely to that place! (later you will find out, that the housekeeper drives the road every day with a Cinquecento ;-). You are stepping to the main building and knock on the door. A pretty woman opens and says ,Benvenuti a Cà Battista, sono Simonetta, avete un buon viaggio?' and you will feel the warm welcome in her words. Simonetta is an excellent hostess with a sense of natural attendance, that can hardly be found anywhere else. She loves Cà Battista, the region around her property and she has a strong relation to the nature. She shares all the good feelings with her guests and take them into a world, which is a bit slower, more relaxed and a cleaning for your soul. You feel home from the first minute. In Cà Battista we stayed in Fienile Suite. Often, when you book a holiday house, you will find nice pictures on the web, and when you arrive, it can look rather disappointing. We were kindly amazed, when the house was much more nice than shown on the web. Big, clean rooms, fully equipped modern kitchen, comfortable beds, walls with different soft and inviting colors, big windows on two sides, one side to the park (which I first named 'forest') the other to a big garden an view to the mountains (Mt.Nerone, 1525m) and almost endless widness, ...breathtaking beautiful. At the edge of the big lawn, the swimming pool, big enough for real swimmimng and place for lots of kids. By the way, we stayed in middle of October and we were still swimming. The pool is placed on a small hillslope. When you look with the right angle, the sky touches the pool border. This gives you the feeling you are swimming in heaven (to be honest on October your are closer to heaven on the canvas chair beside the pool ;-) Finally our recommendation for Cà Battista: Actually, this place should be protected as an insider tip. But since Simonetta would be sad without having guests, we will give her and Cà Battista the best rating we ever gave to a holiday house. We spent perfect two weeks, without any troubles and with lots of good memories in our soul. Simonetta, we will visit you again, thank you for all your support. What you did for us, was an act of love.

Summary: We enjoyed a short stay at Ca Battista in mid October and things could not have been better. The setting was beautiful, the accommodation lovely and the owner Simonetta made the stay very special for all of our group. We will be returning as often as we can!

Summary: We are a family with 4 children between 8 and 13 years old and enjoyed a splendid holiday. We completely agree with the positive comments of the other reviews, however, we give you some details on the resort. This villa, Il Fienile, is a little bit separated from Ca Battista, providing enough privacy. The range of the wifi was restricted to less than 10 meters from the reception, making internet almost impossible in the villa. The Jacuzzi didn’t worked and I didn’t found a stereo system with CD or DVD. However, we didn’t missed none of these things since the pergola, the big swimming pool and the fabulous views maked it up. It’s difficult to protect you against flies and mosquitos, since there are no nets on the windows. However, the property was clean and the swimming pool was well-maintained. It was nice to get new linen and towels after the first week and the owner was very helpful when we asked for a hair drier and a blender. She gave us tips on visiting rivers where the children could make great jumps (from Cagli direction to Foci (one place) and direction to Secchiano (two places), stop where several cars are parked on the side of the road) . The road to the Agriturismo is too difficult for race bikes, however, with the bikes in the car, we started our trips at Pole. The bike trip to Piobbico, Urbania and back to Pole, is great and not too difficult. You certainly have to stop in Urbania for an espresso and excellent pastry in the “Café del Teatro”. Another nice address is Primasecca in Torette near Fano. This restaurant has a free car park and you can enjoy the Italian style of going to the beach. Thanks a lot to Simonetta and her staff for the wonderful stay!

Summary: We stayed in Ca Battista in July 2012 for 2 weeks. Its position high up in the hills provides a most spectacular visual panorama – a vista that stretches almost infinitely to the horizon across a patchwork of light green pastures and straw coloured crops ready for harvest plus clusters of dark green forests on the hill tops. This is classic La Marche - and “agri tourism” at its best. The view from our balcony (and the pool) across the valleys was a treat. We have experienced similar pleasures in Tuscany but this was a total surprise. La Marche is every bit as good as Tuscany – but perhaps not as well marketed! To top it off, the owner Simonetta was at hand to offer advice, teach the kids how to make pizza and provide a steady stream of fresh vegetable produce from her own gardens. The hilltop and valley walks from the property were also fabulous. We would highly recommend this property (and the La Marche region of Italy) for those who enjoy nature at its best in a rural setting. It is especially suitable for active family holidays with interesting places to visit and great food. Also, the Frasassi caves and the “red” tour are not to be missed if you want a real taste of adventure. Claire, Sean & Family, Ireland

Summary: We had a wonderful holiday with our 4 children at Simonetta's place. Stunning views from our terrace, swimming-pool and even the bedroom! We stayed in the renovated barn house. Her place is in the middle of nature and there's lots to do nearby. We enjoyed her place so much it was sometimes hard to leave for a trip. Nature - all around, gorge Furlo, mountain climbing - Monte Nerone, culture - Urbino (and lots more) and seaside (half hour drive). And not to forget our wonderful host Simonetta. She taught me and my son how to make real Italian pizza's. The whole family rated this holiday = super!
