Positive: We were so pleasantly surprised by how much was provided. Despite it being totally off grid with water facilities, if you are prepared for this then it is perfectly comfortable. We had an excellent time, thank you!

Positive: An amazing place nestled in the forest with a lake available for all sorts of activities and to enjoy nature in its purity and simplicity. The sauna ritual and the lake baths were wonderful, the barbecue area is equipped with everything you need, and the little house is cozy and perfect. The bathroom is outside, surrounded by nature—essential. Collecting water from the well was also fun. Busy and happy. For lovers of peace and nature.

Negative: The only regret is that we couldn't use the hot tub, but there was so much else to do.

Summary: An enchanting place nestled in the forest in front of a small lake, perfect for nature lovers!

Positive: The Villa is nestled down a track, away from the main roads and city lights. There's no light pollution or noise. It's the perfect place for some time out and getting back to nature. The toilet is basic and a few meters away from the cabin, but this just adds to the 'wilderness' feel. The water you can collect easily from the well, this is pure clean water and there are plenty of containers for this, we drank this fine with no issues. There's plenty of wood for the fires and sauna. If you need warm water, you need to heat it in a boiler next to the sauna fire. You can wash your body & hair fine in here. There is no shower, but theres plenty of tubs, towels & face cloths. This really is going away from your 'mod cons' but exactly what we needed. I came to this cabin with my mum (58) and 2 children, 11 & and 15, and we all had an amazing experience. The lake was frozen with an opening for fishing and a cold dip after the sauna. You will need transport this is 55 mins away from shops. We stopped at lidl in Rovaniemi before we arrived. There's lots for the children to play with, board games, sledge, fishing equipment ect. We would come here again for sure. It's one of the best experiences we've had. The host was easy to contact and very helpful with all aspects of our travels. We couldn't ask for more. We hope to book again soon.

Negative: We loved the whole experience of getting back to what truly matters. Nature and family time. We have no negatives to give.

Positive: - Really beautiful and peaceful location, quite secluded and romantic - The house was very clean and well equipped, with the MAJOR exception of the toilet and washing facilities (see below) - The entire area is really nice and plenty of adventures and interesting things to do - you can easily spend two-three weeks without running out of things to do

Negative: The way in which the property has been presented on Booking.com is very misleading, if not outright incorrect: - There is no normal bathroom - the only toilet available is an outdoor dry toilet in a unheated wooden shed, which is quite a challenge when the temperature outside can be -20℃ or less - There is no running water in the house at all, neither hot nor cold, not even for washing your hands - There is no normal shower or bath - in order to shower you are supposed to heat a wooden fire boiler, carry water from a lake outside and boil it, and then you wash out of a bucket - I think this hardly qualifies as bathroom/shower, as presented on the website - furthermore, the water in the lake was not at all clean (it had a dark yellow/brown colour), so we used melted snow instead - The drinking water we were supposed to get from a well with a manual pump; and that worked pretty well, but the water had a very unpleasant smell, so we couldn't drink it, we could barely use it for washing our hands - The beds (esp. the pillows) were not very comfortable - Quite far to any shop or restaurant - the closest place where you could buy any food or drinking water was about 1 hour's drive away

Summary: Amazing place but the toilet & washing facilities are camping-level at best!

Positive: Place is a great typical Finnish experience, me and my family loved it. Beautiful environment. Making the sauna with my father was a great experience and also being able to do some grill outside in winter was great!!! The house is really warm and Taking breakfast in the morning with that views is completely incredible.

Negative: Maybe only thing would be the toilet but I understand the situation with the pipelines in winter so no problem at all.

Positive: Villa Latvus was fantastic. We loved our stay. We came as a family with three children who are two , seven and seventeen . I was a little bit anxious about staying so remotely with the lack of running water with a 2 year old but it wasn’t an issue at all. We enjoyed the process of heating the water through the sauna , and enjoyed the sauna ( and the ice hole ) . The cabin was comfortable , well equipped and very warm. The whole experience was amazing - although we loved our stay in Lapland in general , the cabin was the best part and I wish we had stayed longer . We went into Rovaniemi several times and although obviously it was snowy and icy , the roads are kept clear and this was not an issue. We also saw the Northern lights from the lakeside which was a bonus .

Negative: Everything was great. I didn’t initially realise one of the bedrooms was separate ( this is probably something I missed in reading ) . In fact for us this was great as we have a teenager and younger children and the teenager loved having a separate space. But worth being aware of as might have been an issue depending on the make up of the party.

Summary: Villa latvus is a magical place which we would love to return to one day.
