Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Sarandë is very popular tourist destination we noticed. This place is still a bit out of the way of its streets clogged with cars. Beautiful view, easy to get to Butrint from here, parking space close by, room is great (except for airco, see below), and a beach nearby that's not too crowded. Owners: a bit of a mixed bag. The wife and children are wonderful, they made us feel at home right away. The children translate to English (and very well I might add) and are very helpful and adorably enthusiastic. They helped us in every way, so a big thank you there.

Negative: The airco sometimes triggers the circuit breaker. First day the power went out. The owners mentioned the grid was overloaded from all the airco, but we noticed the owner's tv was still on so it was only our apartment that no longer had power. In the middle of the night (airco running for 3 hours) it happened again. Thought it might be a grid issue, but again the internet router was still on, and all street lights were on. So just us again. So we called the owner, he flipped the fuse back on. Explanation we got was basically the same, and that we had to take airco breaks every 2 hours. How do you do that at night? I found some possible reasons for the issue, but owner said he would have the airco checked at the end of the season. So basically, no immediate help was coming. We found a way around it ( for anyone following us): put the mode to 'automatic' instead of 'cooling'. It cools less, but at least it doesn't trigger the circuit breaker. On the very last morning out of the blue we got a message from the owner , if we could get out asap , preferably by 9:30 ( checkout was 10:00) because the next people were coming at 11:00. It was quite unfriendly, even after I texted him what we did to avoid the airco breaking down. It was disappointing to end on that note.
