Lovely detached very spacious farmhouse with enourmous grounds and fabulous views over open countryside.
This traditional, stone built, spacious Charentaise farmhouse is set in an amazing location and is equipped to a very high standard.
The house sits on top of a hill with extensive views over open countryside in a lovely, peaceful location, yet the local village is just a mile away with supermarket, boulangerie, bars and free tennis court. Your nearest neighbours are over 200 metres away, across the lane and down the hill.
The 3 acres of very private grounds are mainly laid to lawn so lots of room to play or just relax. There is an outdoor, fully fenced pool, and covered barbecue area with outdoor table and chairs for 12, making outdoor dining a real pleasure.
The local town, Ruffec, with its fantastic fish market and abundance of shops and supermarkets is just 15 minutes away. The beautiful old towns of Confolens, Angouleme and Poitiers are less than an hour away and the historic towns of Cognac and Jarnac are within easy reach.
The local area is perfect for walking or cycling (the house is equipped with 2 bikes) with a number of riverside and lake recreational areas just a short distance away.
The house itself has 5 bedrooms (2 king-size and 3 twin rooms) all upstairs, with many exposed beams and all surrounding an enormous landing. There are two bathrooms upstairs, both recently renovated and featuring walk-in showers and a roll top free standing bath. There is an additional toilet downstairs. All linen is provided and is of a high quality with cotton sheets and fluffy white bath towels.
Downstairs is a fully equipped farmhouse kitchen complete with range cooker with double oven, combination microwave, dishwasher, a wine/beer fridge, large fridge freezer, dishwasher, breakfast table and chairs and a full set of matching crockery and glassware.
The lounge is enormous with wood burning stoves at either end and more exposed beams, very comfortable sofas and a long refectory dining table.
There is a separate tv room with a widescreen tv with all the English channels supplied via freest, surround sound and a dvd player with an extensive collection of dvds. This room also contains a sofa-bed.
The house is also equipped with a washing machine, tumble drier, iron and ironing board.
This house and grounds have plenty of space for children to play and has a full size table tennis table, dart board and two bicycles for guest use. Well behaved dogs are welcome.

Summary: We had a wonderful week here and thoroughly enjoyed the sprawling farmhouse and grounds, the stunning views, wildlife, and peace and quiet. A deer visited us one evening which was magical and there was nothing but the birds to listen to during the day. The village was perfect for fresh baked bread and pastries, and the Carrefour express complete with fuel pumps at the end of the lane was the perfect pit stop after a day out sightseeing. Lots of pretty villages and larger towns within striking distance if you wanted to explore. Or just relax at the gite where there were plenty of places in and out of the shade in the gardens and terraces, and by the pool. We’d recommend lots of insect repellent as the flies were incessant this time of year, especially around the pool area. Of course, it’s to be expected as you’re in the countryside, but it didn’t stop us having a lovely holiday here. The Carrefour had plenty of citronella candle options and there were lots of candle holders at the gite to keep the insects at bay in the evenings. Lots of games and a boules set provided as well as a great collection of inflatables if you are staying with kids. Thank you to Diane and your team for making us so welcome.

Summary: We had an enjoyable family holiday. The generous proportions of the rooms and extensive external area means you can spread yourselves which is useful for the differing generations with various spots to eat and enjoy a morning coffee. We appreciated the badminton/etc as plenty of play items for the youngsters. The pool was a great attraction . We found the proximity to Champagne Mouton ideal for shopping and the two parks, especially the zip wire for the youngsters and the tennis facility. It was disappointing the local bar was closed considering still August. The area at Rejellant near Ruffec was impressive with a play and beach area area for youngsters as well as older children. We made a number of trips to villages and towns close by all of which were interesting so all in all a good week despite the weather being somewhat disappointing for August.Thank you to Diane for the kind gifts on our arrival.

Summary: A lovely very large property with loads of space for all. Pool and pool area spacious and plenty of sun beds. Gardens massive with plenty of space for kids to play and explore. Great internal and external seating areas with a BBQ as well. Parking for 4 or more cars. Just a mile to nearest supermarket, newsagent, PO, chemist and bakers. Ideal location.

Summary: We had the most wonderful holiday at Maison Neuve! The house is beautiful and incredibly well equipped. We did not need anything as it was all there. The various areas outdoor areas were incredible and we spent most of out time outside playing games and laughing. It is an incredible family home!

Summary: Our extended family stayed here following a wedding in St Emilion. The house was really comfortable, and had everything we needed including towels for the pool. We loved the outside space, perfect for BBQ and happy hours were spent in the pool. The location was great for activities including kayaking, cycling,walking and there are lovely restaurants nearby.

Summary: Just back from our week’s holiday at Maison Neuve with our family of 12. Everyone loved it, especially all the space! We much appreciated how well presented and equipped it was: we wanted for nothing. Lovely pool and very practical covered area with enormous table to enjoy barbecues. Beautiful view across the valley, and it was nice to have all that grass to play French cricket and frisbees. Very peaceful location, but only a short distance to pretty riverside villages. Highly recommended.

Summary: Huge house with lots of space to relax and with 4 grandchildren that's amazing. Beautiful views from the front of the house. Grandchildren spent most of their time in the pool or garden but when exhausted would flop down in front of television and watch a video, or played with the toys provided or games and there were so many. Beds were very comfortable so we slept well. Great places to visit from here and some amazing restaurants. Kitchen very well equipped, and we had a few barbecues. All in all a lovely stay

Summary: Maison Neuve is an exceptional property offering privacy and lots of space. The property is bursting with character and authenticity. The property is very well maintained and the kitchen is fully equipped to easily handle large family groups. The bathrooms are modern and the showers are beauties. The interior is all we were hoping for. The outside of the property is a joy- so much space for kids to roam and play and the swimming pool is perfect for both kids and adults. This property provides the best of both worlds, seclusion and you are only a five minute drive away from petrol stn and supermarket in Champagne Mouton. The surrounding area around Ruffec is bursting with places to see and things to do. The Le Clerq supermarket, 11 miles away is HUGE and Ruffec also boasts some great cultural venues. Restaurants are sited in stunning locations with lovely well priced food. Bracantes are held on a regular basis in summer and are a must to visit, the French know how to car boot sale!! To find this property when you arrive - from Ruffec drive to Champagne Mouton take the first left at Carrefour Supermarche drive for a mile and simply follow signs for Maison Neuve. We can't recommend this property enough and will certainly be hoping to return again.
