Positive: All we can say is that the accommodation, the welcome and the family were simply outstanding. Having spent a week in Crete then a week in Naxos ( all fabulous by the way) the best was kept till our last stay in Syros. We were picked up from the port by Dimitris before arriving at the accommodation to meet the rest of the family. The accommodation and location is superb and views out over the sea from the verandah were to die for! And then there is their wonderful secluded garden and hot tub that was lovely to have a daily dip in. We were welcomed with a glass of home made liquor plus cakes on top of a huge amount of delicious food and drink that they had provided for us. 2 days later more savouries were left for us and then some Syros sweets when Dimitris drove us to the port to ( sadly for us !) take the Seajet back to Athens. A wonderful stay and we will return!

Positive: The location was the best possible, near the beautiful Asteria beach and with a view over the city. You could easily walk to the beautiful city center and up to Ano Syros. The house itself was clean, spacious and beautiful with a wonderful separate garden and pool. Our hosts were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was included, but there was much more: the family provided lots of traditional delicious Greek dishes; much more than we could possibly eat. Thank you for a lovely visit!

Positive: I can’t express enough the warmth & hospitality of this beautiful home and family. The location was perfect, the house immaculate and the hosts were the most wonderful people. The best place to stay in all of Syros. Watching the sea from the balcony in the morning was an absolute highlight of our stay in Greece. Also the amazing spread of delicious food (such a great cook!) was such a bonus, incredible flavours and more than we could ever finish! The garden was also such a beautiful spot, I wish we had more time to sit and enjoy it. Overall the most delightful experience, we will be back.

Negative: Nothing, it was perfect. Only that we had to leave!

Summary: Warmth & hospitality abounds in this incredible home, with the most wonderful hosts. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Positive: A lovely spacious and very comfortable apartment with fantastic views over the bay. There was also a beautiful garden with citrus trees, vines, sun loungers and jacuzzi. We were made to feel very welcome by Dimitris, Alexandra and Vasiliki – lovely Greek hospitality with a fridge and kitchen full of essentials and delicious homemade food, though much more than we could eat. Dimitris picked us up and dropped us off at the port, provided a lot of helpful information about the property, things to do and see in Ermoupoli and how to navigate the buses to other beaches and villages. Would also highly recommend Kini which has a beautiful sandy beach and great tavernas. We had a lovely stay!

Negative: Just to note that whilst a short walk into the town, there are a lot of steps.

Positive: We would give this lovely property with its super wonderful owners - our fantastic hosts - 10 stars if we could!!! Where to start? We were met by Dimitris, the father of the family a kind, intelligent and gracious man, at the ferry port where he refused help to carry our very heavy cases into his car and then took us up to the house which is quite high up behind Ermoupoli town. There we were met by Alexandra, his beautiful wife, and Vasiliki, his lovely and extremely articulate daughter who welcomed us with warm embraces. The house was spotlessly clean with all the facilities you need plus a mountain of various traditional Greek homemade dishes sweet and savoury, a fully stocked fridge with milk, eggs, cheese, ham, juice, butter, etc etc. which meant we could relax on our first day without worrying about stocking up or shopping - such a boon! How amazing and unprecedented! Our stay was lovey - the views from our balcony over the ever-changing beautiful Aegean with glimpses of surrounding islands, was magical and idyllic. The little garden is a boon where you can relax under the vines and lemon trees and cool off in the jacuzzi and is tranquil and calming - there is even a kitchen and shower there so you can bring down food and drinks and which can also act as a second bathroom. The house is very pretty, comfortable and homely and kept super clean. The 'beach' is only 10 mins walk away - albeit a climb up and down a myriad of steps (great exercise) though you could easily hire a taxi - taxis are very cheap on the island and ever available. The beach area is really a concrete platform which is so practical as you can just walk down a ladder straight into the lovely, cool sea or dive if you wish. There are permanent parasols and areas to sit under pine trees so we loved it - great for people watching! There is a big bar/restaurant just up a walkway so you don't need to bring food.

Negative: Only the climb up the steps from the town or beach, but taxis are easy and cheap.

Summary: The crowning glory of our visit, of course, were our fantastic hosts.

Positive: The apartment has a great view over the bay and we could watch the ships coming into the port. It had a good selection of sleeping options for our family of five (our “kids” are now 21,18 and 17). The air con worked well during a hot August. But best of all was the amazing selection of food that Dimitris, Alexandra and Vasiliki provided supposedly for breakfast but which was more than ample for us also to take for beach snacks and for snacks for the kids when they got in from the late night bars. The family are the most welcoming and hospitable hosts you could ever hope ti meet.

Positive: Vasiliki, Alexandra and Dimitris were wonderful hosts! They prepared several delicious breakfast options and desserts during our stay. The view from the home is fantastic. We visited 3 great beaches on the island by public transportation and walked to town and the closest beach. We took the free city bus to Ano Syros, which is lovely.

Positive: We stayed on the island of Syros, our first time in Greece, and absolutely loved it. It’s a stunning island with beautiful weather and crystal-clear water, perfect for swimming. An ideal destination for a family with young children. The hosts of Veranda Syros House were incredibly hospitable. They picked us up and dropped us off at both the airport and the port, and took care of everything down to the smallest detail. We’ve never experienced such genuine hospitality before. They regularly brought us large trays of delicious homemade food. We truly felt pampered. The house itself was perfect: a lovely location with a breathtaking view of the sea from the balcony. There was also a beautiful garden with a jacuzzi, where our children had a fantastic time playing. The kitchen was well-equipped, although we barely used it thanks to the generous meals provided by our hosts. The house has lots of charm. We used four bedrooms, and the beds were very comfortable. We had an unforgettable time. A huge thank you to Vasiliki, Alexandra, and Dimitris. We hope to return someday!
