Positive: The location was great. It was ideal for attractions in the area. Handy for walking into town and eating out. The apartment had ca spacious and comfortable lounge and dining area. The welcome pack was much appreciated.

Negative: Parking wasn't ideal. It was fiddley. Noise from neighbours kept us awake at night. Also, noise from the nearby roads woke us very early in the morning. The kitchen could have been improved by having the broken shelving in the freezer fixed, as it wasn't ideal. The kitchen needs a draining board for when washing up is done. Finding only two dirty egg cups in the apartment was disappointing. Four clean egg cups would have been ideal as four of us were staying there. The ensuite shower base was patched up and leaked. The twin bedroom could have had a mirror in it, and the door didn't always shut properly.

Positive: The location, sitting room and kitchen as well as WiFi were great.

Negative: The two bathrooms and twin bedroom have so many problems we feel we have to list them given the inconvenience and interruption to our stay. 2nd bathroom - no shower attachment, no bath hand rail, no shelving or table for normal bathroom accessories e.g. toothbrush etc. En-suite bathroom - noisy macerator toilet, taped up and cracked shower base, blocked shower unit drain which flooded floor on first shower there, mouldy tiles, temperamental shower temperature control, blistered and peeling paintwork. In twin room, a broken bed slat, previous occupier’s socks, clothes labels and lamp stand were left in an uncleaned chest of drawers, bed heads covered in dust and a fold up bed and Christmas decorations were stored in the one and only wardrobe. Sharp cornered beds in an already space challenged room were a health and safety issue. Poorly positioned power points, no mirror and a strong musty smell indicating damp in the twin room was reported but disappointingly disputed by housekeeping. A second lamp needed in the sitting room.

Summary: Lovely two bedroom apartment conveniently located but particularly let down by its two sub-standard bathrooms

Positive: The property was in a fabulous location and was extremely comfortable.

Negative: There was nothing we didn’t like about the property. It was perfect for our needs and allowed us to explore Northumberland.

Summary: We will definitely visit Alnwick again and would look to book Upper Oakwood. It was a real home away from home.

Negative: The main double bed was rather small there should be more information given about the steps up to the apartment as they were not suitable for anyone with disabilities or a dog

Negative: Single beds very narrow. Main bathroom had no shower, although there was one in the en-suite, which is ok for families but not so great for friends.
