Summary: Breakfast was alright but not what I would expect from a 4 stars hotel. There was a bit of everything you'd expect for breakfast.

Summary: It’s a great hotel, although it’s clear it’s past its prime. The property feels a bit outdated, without yet having that classic charm. The staff is very attentive. We took the walk to the beach — highly recommended — and the service was excellent; they even dried our sneakers overnight so they’d be ready the next day. The food was very good, with a great dinner and a nice breakfast.

Summary: Great location, very peaceful. Wonderful and friendly staff. We had the best meal (dinner and the breakfast buffet) here. I felt like I was at a Michelin star restaurant for dinner; it was so lovely.

Summary: Great spot, top notch. Views were amazing and walk to the black sand beach area easy and straight forward. There was a list to be awakened if Northern Lights showed (which they did) and really appreciated that option.

Summary: From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome. The staff were always attentive and friendly while still being down to earth. Both breakfast and dinner were just lovely, with locally sourced ingredients and creative cocktails. The sauna and yoga room proved necessary at the end of each day of hiking and exploring the area - it’s so close to Skógafoss, Seljalandsfoss, Solheimajökull, Reynisfjara, and Vik. This is a beautiful property, with awe-inspiring scenery from every angle, so bring your camera. The walk to the beach takes a bit longer than they say, but it’s worth it. We got lucky early on our first evening with a short but unexpected burst of aurora activity - just standing outside looking at the stars in the right place at the right time! - but they do have a wake-up service for anyone wishing to see the northern lights when they start up. My only (minor) demerit was for the bed comfort, but it’s certainly not the worst I’ve had in Iceland or anywhere else in Europe, so it’s barely worth mentioning. I will definitely return to UMI! <3

Summary: This place is amazing! Food and staff are excellent. The only downside is the gravel road to the property. Small cars need to extra care and go slowly

Summary: This hotel was a perfect Icelandic experience. The food was wonderful and short walk to a truly black sand beach was extremely enjoyable at sunset. Would I stay here again, definitely!
