The Tropic of Cancer beach is one of the Bahamas most pristine, secret treasures, located directly on the Tropic of Cancer. I call it the 'Threshold of the Universe' as it is truly a magical place.
When you have finished sunning and swimming in our crystal clear waters perhaps you would like to have dinner on the balcony. The top floor is vacant when we have guests, so our guests have access to the balcony and their complete privacy on the property. The house is centered on the beach and from the balcony one can see the entire beach and surrounding cays for miles. So pop some champagne and enjoy the view. It doesn't get more romantic than this.
After dinner, relax and watch tv on your high def 42' flat screen. Each queen sized bedroom has its own private bathroom for everyone's convenience. There is also a 1/2 bath off the living room for your guests. Both bedrooms are located oceanfront so you can be lulled to sleep by the lapping of the waves on the shore.
Not ready for bed? Take your cocktails up to the balcony, or if the moon is shining, to the sun (moon) deck. Sit back and be mesmerized as you are covered in a blanket of stars.
As a courtesy, we provide free internet access, unlimited calls to U.S. and limited local calls, however, these services tend to be unreliable at times (price one pays for living in paradise), so if you absolutely must be in touch with home you may want to make your own arrangements. There are internet cafes in town as well.
Whatever you do-you won't be disappointed at 'The Pines'. Come see where heaven meets earth!

Summary: I've wanted to go to Exuma for years, having heard rave reviews of its beaches, above all Tropic of Cancer Beach, so I was excited when I found the Pines in my research and saw the opportunity to actually live on the beach during my Exuma vacation with two other friends. The house is amazing. The balcony affords beautiful views of the beach and a cool spot to remain during the hottest part of the day, but one can sun oneself on the deck below on on the sunchairs by the steps that lead down on the beach. There are two ensuite bedrooms of comfortable size facing the beach with airconditioning and an airconditioner in the living room/dining/kitchen areas, which is open plan. The house is decorated nicely. All appliances worked efficiently and the kitchen is well stocked with kitchenware. There's a flatscreen television with Direct TV. Melanie was easy to contact, provided clear instructions and advice about how to get to the house and how to enjoy our stay, including tour and restuarant tips. She conducted business efficiently and professionally, promptly refunding our safety deposit and thoughtfully arranged a gift of sparkling wine for us in the refrigerator. I strongly recommend the Pines for a laid back vacation getaway. The property is not in the middle of the main town, George Town, so one has to drive 30 - 40 minutes there. Some may find this a deterrent, but if your main wish is to relax by the beach, outside of what little action one can find in "town", the Pines is perfect. If you want to drink and party in town, the curves of Exumas roads and the largely unlit sections outside of the main settlements may be unsettling for the first time visitor/driver at night--you may not want to drive back and forth in the evening. Luckily, Santana's and some other establishments are close in WilliamsTown (5 -10 minutes ). The only minor complaints one can have about tThe Pines come with the realities of vacationing in a rural, developing setting: the road leading to the house is VERY bad. drive slow and spare your tires. 2)as night falls, mosquitoes and sandflies (no seeums) emerge. keep the doors closed and keep Off handy. 3)the house is on well water, which can often stink because of sulfur content. 4) power may periodically go for short periods. This is common in Bahamas in the summer, and happened twice while we were there, but it came on quickly. I'd definitely return and recommend to others.

Summary: I have been to Great Exuma many times. I always wanted to stay on Tropic of Cancer but was afraid that it might be too secluded! I've never been so wrong in my life. It was absolutely perfect for us. Many days we had "one of the best beaches in the world" all to ourselves!! The house was perfect size, great views from every window, all the appliances worked properly, and it had a flatscreen with all your directv stations. We grilled a few nights which was a nice change and we also visited Santanna's and Tropic Breeze each a few times. The place and location were awesome and my goal is to spend 2 weeks here the next time. My only advice would be to upgrade the bed quality or maybe even add a king to one of the rooms, then it would my new home away from home. Btw... Melanie, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with. She answered all our questions, handled my internet problem immediately, left fresh flowers and also had a bottle of champagne in the fridge. A very classy and professional gesture. I would highly recommend dealing with Melanie and staying at the Pines. I know I'll be back very soon!!

Summary: Had a great visit at The Pines over New Year's. This is a great property...far enough away for privacy and peace and close enough for adventure and fun. Make sure to go to Williamstown and visit Chef Anne's for Bahamian cuisine...we ate there almost every day! Thanks for having such a great property!

Summary: I cannot begin to thank Melanie enough for sharing her wonderful place with us. We just got back from 10 fabulous days at The Pines and hours of quiet time on a spectacular beach. Every day we would wake up and look out the window at the beautiful turquoise waters and think how lucky we were. The beach is truly amazing and private. At times, you were the only people on the beach and, at its busiest, you could still count the number of people on one hand. The seaside deck was perfect for evening cocktails, music, reflection and gazing at the stars. The bbq was great for grilling lobster tails bought from the hair salon in Georgetown - highly recommended! And the blender provided us with an endless supply of fresh fruit smoothies. Another must is to take a short trip down the road to Mom's Bakery. We went to the famous Santana's one night for dinner but found it a bit over-rated. We liked Eddie's in Georgetown much better or, frankly, just cooking at home and enjoying one of the best views on the island. The bottle of champagne upon arrival was also a nice touch and very appreciated after a long day of flying. All in all, I would highly recommend The Pines to anyone who is looking for a beautiful, secluded beach and wonderful accommodation. Thanks, Melanie!

Summary: 2 of us stayed here in May 2012 and had a fantastic, quiet, low-key week in paradise! House and accommodations comfortable and plenty big enough for the two of us (would be ideal for a 2 couple group). Rental includes the bottom floor of a two story home, and guests can access the second story balcony as well as the downstairs deck and beachside deck. Very private and quiet stretch of beach. Worth having a car for at least a portion of the trip so you can go visit sites on the island and try out some of the beachside eateries! Great place, highly recommend and we hope to come back sometime soon!

Summary: Spent the first week of June '11 at this beautiful beachfront home on Tropic of Cancer Beach. June isn't tourist time so it wasn't busy, very quiet in fact - something we were looking for. There is lots of privacy. The house is big where each large bedroom has its own bathrm with tub. Nice big kitchen and living room. Nice deck where you can bbq. Nice sun deck steps from the beach.Beautiful sand. Experienced no sandflies at dust, which was a bonus! Brought bug spray and never used it. Renting a car is the way to go. We needed to go to the grocery store a couple times to stock up on more food and water (as you can't drink the tap water)...each drive to town (25 mins) was a fun adventure- pulling off to other beaches; driving on the left left hand side of the road was fun too! Never did take water taxi to Stocking Island across from Georgetown but will do that next time. :-) The owner was very kind and such a big help in planning our trip before we arrived; ie. taxi driver name if we needed one, car rental agnecy, things to do and see, etc.... I would recommend this vacation property to anyone and everyone. It was so peaceful. I look forward to going back to this beautiful place someday. Mary, Ottawa, Canada.

Summary: I've traveled this road twice! It really doesn't get any better than this! The Beach is Beautiful and the water is refreshing! This property has everything it says and more. It is well maintained and very comfortable. Loved Chat 'n' Chill, as well as Cocoplum's Beach Club! Also enjoyed, cooking a romantic dinner. This is truly a place of renewal! You will see the stars and the moon in a different light, and the price is right!

Summary: We spent 7 miraculous days in this quiet, private beachfront resort located on the tropic of cancer.. It felt like our own piece of heaven! The accommodations were superb. Everything was modern. We had great views from all the rooms and we were thrilled that we were able to snorkel and swim at will in the clear blue waters. The sunbathing was exceptional in that privacy allowed us to sunbathe nude. We often ate out, on the balcony, that is. It was truly a dream come true. You'll love it and return, as we plan to do in the fall of this year.

Summary: All the conviences of home with privacy unequal to anything that I ever experienced. Basking bare under the golden sun and the tropical tradewinds were rejuveniating to my mind, body and soul. I can't wait to go back to the Pines.
