Wraxall House | Tranquil Woodland Cottage, 10 Min Drive to Clifton

3 Bedroom House in Wraxall, Lower Failand

Summary:
This idyllic, newly renovated cottage and annexe are located in West Tanpit Wood, a protected woodland just 10 minutes drive from Bristol suspension bridge and Clifton. Upon arriving, you will be greeted with a beautiful canopy of greenery and the peaceful sounds of nature. The cottage and annexe extension offer plenty of room for six guests to spread out and enjoy, with acres of countryside land to explore right from the door and a garden to make the most of in warm months!
The Space:
Inside, you are greeted with warm and welcoming country-cottage interiors. A roaring log burner takes centre stage in the living room, creating the perfect spot to slump back and relax on cooler evenings. Guests can take to the comfortable corner sofa and armchairs, with a film or series playing on the large 4K smart TV. Next door, the spacious kitchen diner has been tastefully decorated with traditional sage green shaker-style cabinets. You will find ample mod cons fitted too; from the new range cooker to a handy dishwasher. You will find gorgeous traditional features running throughout, from exposed wooden beams to cast iron fireplaces. Leading on, there is a lovely conservatory room with beautiful views out over the garden - it'll be hard to pull yourself away from the comfortable sofa and your book!
The main house has two bedrooms upstairs: a well-sized king-sized master and a further twin room. These share a stylish, modern family bathroom equipped with a luxurious waterfall shower and separate bath tub. The separate annexe offers guests the opportunity to have space from the main house and is kitted out like a charming wood cabin. Inside, find a king-size bed, en-suite with shower, washing machine and a wood-burner. Snuggle up in front of the fire on cooler evenings or fling open the large windows on sunnier days and enjoy the best of indoor-outdoor living.
The surrounding gardens are splendid and offer plenty of space for the whole group. Enjoy barbecues on the patio in summer, read your book under the trees in the swinging chair or sunbathe from one of the loungers. Children will love running around free-range and having a go on the charming tree swing! There are walks to enjoy straight from the door: explore the surrounding woodland, visit Tyntesfield House or the beautiful Ashton Hill Plantation. With the vibrant city of Bristol just a 10 minute drive, you're in the perfect place to enjoy the best of both worlds!
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the whole house and garden.
The Neighborhood:
The cottage is located in a protected woodland on the outskirts of Bristol. With only wildlife and the trees as neighbours, the cottage is a stunning place for nature lovers. You are surrounded by bridleways, walks and mountain biking trails which can be picked up right from the cottage. It is, however, located within close proximity to the city (20 minutes to the centre) so you can enjoy some parts of a city break to boot! Bristol is a beautiful city with Georgian heritage, a bustling harbour, pretty green spaces and a fierce independent spirit.
Ashton Hill Plantation is just a three minute drive and offers a stunning section of woodland for walks and cycles. Tyntesfield, a National Trust property with gothic Victorian links, is just four minutes drive and a great choice for a day out. Wander around the groomed gardens or enjoy tea and cake on the pretty lawns. Bristol & Clifton Golf Course is within walking distance or a very short drive, whilst Long Ashton Golf Course is similarly only a 5 minute drive. For families, Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm is also nearby.
Less than 10 minutes drive away is Leigh Woods and Ashton Court Estate offer over 850 acres of countryside, walking paths, lakes, woodland and mountain biking trails to explore, as well as a herd of resident deer. From here you can walk over to Clifton, an idyllic part of Bristol which is home to the iconic Suspension Bridge. It's also home to a good selection of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Further in town, you will find two theatres with regular shows as well as art galleries and museums to mooch around. The city is also a much loved foodie destination so you'll never struggle to find good dining options. Head to Whapping Wharf for lunch beside the water: Seven Lucky Gods, Paco Tapas and Gambas are just few of our favourites. Redland is another food-driven street: head to Wilson's Restaurant for fine dining and Snobby's for delicious Italian food.
Getting Around:
Bristol has brilliant transport links from London Paddington and Cornwall, however due to the remote nature of the property we would recommend visiting with a car. There is space for up to three cars on the driveway, and if you want to visit the city centre it's a quick drive or taxi away!
Other Things to Note:
Dogs are welcome with a fee of Β£20/dog (max 2). It is on the condition they are not allowed on the soft furnishings or in the bedrooms.
Some previous guests have noted the stair case is quite steep, so it may not be suitable for those with mobility limitations.
Interaction with Guests:
We will be available via message, email and phone during your stay. Any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch!

Summary: We spent four nights in the cottage as a family with three kids (aged 10 / 13 / 15). The cottage is beautifully crafted and very tastefully equipped and designed. We enjoyed our stay - one can easily explore the surroundings by car (including Bristol). Communication with the host / the agency was easy, questions were always answered very quickly. We are already planning our next stay in the cottage. :-)

Summary: Generally a nice secluded property. A bit quirky but a nice quiet spot. The property is comfortable with all the basics. A few things were lacking though which would have made the stay better, an information booklet for example explaining where things are and how things work. We never did find a hair drier πŸ˜ƒ

Summary: The positives - The house is in a lovely little hidden woodland not far from the outskirts of Bristol. It feels quirky and quaint and the peace and tranquility is a delight. It has all the expected amenities. The owner is very responsive to questions. The wifi is excellent. The lack of phone signal was a blessing. The online materials are great. Less positive - The property feels a little run down. The guttering leaks (which isnt a problem apart from when the weather is terrible - which it was!). The security light to the annex doesn't work so it is a fumble in the dark up stairs to get there. There were bits of wood that had fallen down in the conservatory. The live TV didn't work although the Smart TV did. The pots and pans aren't great quality so it was easy to burn food. The kitchen equipment was odd (why have two cheese graters but no foil?). But we did find a couple of uncooked potatoes still in the over from the previous guest. While it promises condiments it felt like what was there was just left over from previous guests - so more ice than you can shake a stick at but no oil to cook with. There are no welcome packs so no info about how to navigate the woodland, what walks are good in the area, or what there is to see and do Overall - All in all it is a great place. For the out of season price we paid I would say it was a little high for what one gets. And there just needs a little bit of effort to make it feel more in line with what you are spending.

Summary: Lovely cosy cottage in a fantastic location. Peace and quiet yet very near to Bristol - perfect. We saw a deer in the garden too surround by the woods. Highly recommended! Thanks

Summary: My wife and I rented this place for 3 nights in January. We just wanted to get away somewhere cosy and shut out the world for a couple of days - well this was certainly the place to do it! The cottage is gloriously isolated on the edge of a small wooded valley away from anyone else but is only a brisk 10min walk away from the lovely local pub and farm shop. The garden was beautiful (even in January) and although we didn't use the conservatory (was a bit chilly in Jan) I can only imagine how much more the place comes to life in the summer complete with outdoor kissing swing, table and lawns. For us, we were there for the relax and we got that in droves. We burned logs all day for that smell, noise and cosiness and enjoyed the very comfy sofa and armchair. The TV is big and of excellent quality and we brought our own Firestick so we had access to all the viewing we have at home. The WiFi is also refreshingly fast for somewhere like this - 400Mbps up/down for anyone who needs a lot of speedy data. The kitchen was very well equipped and had everything we needed. The third bedroom is detatched in a small self-contained wooden annex with huge doors that open to the outside. I'm sure it is amazing in summer but as there were only two of us we stayed in main cottage. The main shower was also of note as it was hot and powerful, one of the things my long-haired wife always comments on. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely come back as it was just lovely! xXx

Summary: We enjoyed our time in this peaceful cabin. It's exactly what we were looking for after four busy days in London. The WiFi was appreciated, as we had no cellular service to connect us to the outside world! The only negative was the high number of spiders in the annex. We understand it's in the country, and summertime, but that space should be treated for them. Overall a great stay! Would definitely stay again!

Summary: amazing location, peacefull and quiet. great location to relax from everyday noisy city. Very easy acces, good communication with property manager. Property in very good condition, maybe only some kitchen appliances could be upgraded, but overall amazing place. we will be coming back there for sure.
