2 Bedroom Villa in Barga

Charming detached 2 bedroom cottage with large private pool, gorgeous views, set in 30 hectares of land, and only 5 minutes from Barga! WIFI What a treat!
Turello is a lovely detached 2 bedroom cottage set in total seclusion with a private pool. The house is set in extensive grounds (30 hectares!), including vines and chestnut woods, and has terrific views over to Barga and the mountains beyond. This is a really peaceful retreat, yet a very short drive to the beautiful city of Barga!
The house:
On the ground floor there is a spacious well equipped kitchen/diner, with washing machine, dishwasher, oven, hob and microwave as well as a fridge/freezer. Fireplace. Door leading to covered eating area.
The kitchen leads through open plan to the living room which has large double doors looking out on the garden.
Also on the ground floor is a shower room with WC, sink and shower.
Upstairs, via a spiral staircase (or via outside if guests prefer) there are two bedooms - a twin, which leads through to a double. Both rooms have doors leading outside and a single sofa bed.

Summary: We had a lovely stay in this beautiful and very private villa. The house was very comfortable and well equiped. The pool was very nice and the grounds were lovely. The owners are a lovely couple and very friendly. We had lots of vegetables from Amadeo's garden which were really tasty. We had a great stay and would love to go back again.

Summary: Amazing property, amazing pool. Everything you need to escape and enjoy the home home from home comforts. The house and grounds were beautiful and the pool was fantastic. Hosts very friendly and close by if needed and nothing to much trouble. Be aware a 4x4 will be needed to reach the house as very steep hills and tight turns not for the nervous driver, will be returning xx

Summary: Simply stunning place right away from it all in the Tuscan hills. We loved the pool, the quiet area and generally feeling relaxed. Barga was close and nearby with more than enough shops etc for food. The owner was so kind and welcoming, it was like staying with family! Definitely 5 stars from us!

Summary: After spending 9 fun but hectic days in Rome and Venice, this was a great place to wind down and have some quiet time for our family of 4. The pool was a major draw for us and it was heavenly. It was a record heat wave when we were there but even without air conditioning the cottage stayed relatively cool. Amedeo and his family were friendly, accessible, and responsive while also giving us our privacy. Barga is a wonderful town and we were lucky to be there for their annual Piazzarelle festival so that music could be heard from the cottage each night. The area is hilly and there are some great hiking trails around so you'll want to be ready for some climbing... A skill you'll also need for the tight spiral staircase :) As many have said, the driveway is a challenge but any half decent car can handle it and you do get used to it. If you're not very comfortable with a manual transmission, though, you may want to try to get an automatic. Considering how secluded the cottage is, it is amazing that water and electricity are not an issue. The fact that it also has a washer, dishwasher, microwave, etc, is also impressive. It would be nice if there were more cooking tools and basic staples in the kitchen and the stove/oven could use some care but these are minor issues that certainly did not affect our overall enjoyment of this very sweet little cottage. We loved Il Turello and we recommend it to anyone.

Summary: We had a wonderful time at Il Turello. The location and grounds are absolutely stunning and our hosts were very welcoming, friendly and quick to respond to any questions we had. The drive up to the property is steep, but perfectly doable even with a larger SUV. There´s plenty to see and do around the area and we particularly enjoyed visting Barga, Lucca or just relaxing at the amazing pool! Summary: We had a wonderful stay at the Cottage. The house itself is cozy, with just right amount of space for our family of 4 (kids aged 13 and 9). The internal, spiral stairs are very narrow, but the external stairs provide a good alternative when necessary. The outside space and pool are fantastic, well cared for, and incredibly private. The owners were very friendly and welcomed us with open hearts, but definitely respected our space and privacy. When our younger son had a bad accident while playing football, they were quick to help us and make sure we got all the medical care and supplies we needed. I could not thank them enough for their kindness. I will always remember it. The area is beautiful. Lots to explore. We had our mountain bikes, and the trails are fantastic. But it's important to note, the house is on a steep hill. The road to the house is curvy and narrow - not for the faint of heart. But even with our rather large, family minivan we had no problems. I would highly recommend this property and definitely hope to visit again.

Summary: We absolutely loved our week at Il Turello. We were provided with a great set of directions on how to find the cottage, including how we could visit a fantastic local supermarket on the way. The cottage is indeed remote - just what we wanted, and so is a fair way up some narrow, winding roads - but well worth the journey. We just cannot describe the experience as the cottage, pool and grounds reveal themselves when you get to the top. Breathtaking doesn’t even get close... The owner; Amadeo, gave us a very warm welcome on arrival and while he was always available - he left us in privacy while we stayed. Although he did pop around within a day or so of our arrival to drop off some freshly picked cherries from the orchard above the cottage. He said we could help ourselves too - which we did once or twice! Freshly picked cherries, yum... For anyone who visits later in the year, your treat may be figs or something else instead. The cottage is set in beautiful surroundings, great views with so many different little areas to just sit in the quiet countryside and relax. The pool is a good size and was warm when we stayed late May. The cottage is well equipped and clean. It was perfect for the two of us. The pizza oven is a fantastic treat. We cheated and got some ready made dough from the local supermarket and covered this with our home made sauce and various toppings. Absolute best ever pizzas we tasted. In summary - we had a fabulous and relaxing week and hope to come back in the future.

Summary: This was our second holiday at Il Turello, and that says a lot. We are a family of four from Copenhagen (mom, dad and two boys age 11 and 12) and we simply love this house and place. Amadeo, the houseowner, and his wife are the most friendly hosts, Amadeo was available and helpful during our stay, but also let us have our privacy. The house has everything you need, and is very clean and well equipped. The wifi works perfectly - both inside and outside. But the best about the house is the total amazing view and quietness way up high in the maintains. The house is indeed very far away from it all, and we loved it. The house is located so beautifully with a steep drive up the hill. The house has a wooden fired original pizza oven that we used almost every night, it was so much fun also for our boys. The private pool is very big and clean. We all loved that. We would definately like to come back again for a third time :)

Summary: Il Turello is completely secluded offering the perfect relaxing holiday. It is situated on a wooded hillside giving great views of the valley below. The patio and pool area were a highlight, we spent a lot of time relaxing here. As well as a well equipped kitchen there is a wood fired pizza oven and BBQ's so you are never short of options if you don't want to go out to eat. Inside there is fireplace which we made use of on some of the colder September evenings. The whole property was clean and well maintained. Barga is close by offering a selection of restaurants and smaller shops. Slightly further away in Gallicano there is a large supermarket. As other reviews say the first drive up to Il Turello is a bit daunting, however you soon get used to it. We managed it in a fairly large automatic estate car in the rain without issue, a 4x4 is really not necessary. Our 10 days went by far too quickly and we would love to return if we get the chance.
