Summary: It was a nicely restored older building that maintained its original look but looks like a new version of it. I liked the remote check-in, getting an email with a code to enter the lobby and another for the room door. It was very clean. Tomales is a nice little town, close to the ocean.

Summary: There was a little confusion between the emailed key codes I dutifully saved and the requirement for extra digits for entry, which was only noted on the door of the main entrance.

Summary: We liked the property in small downtown Tomales. There were bucolic views of the surrounding hills and cattle. We didn't like the contactless approach. There was no one to greet us, and no one to connect with personally. The room was unusual in that there was no dresser, only three hangars, and only one spot to put a suitcase. There is an amazing bakery across the street.

Summary: I wanted to like this hotel, but it felt unfinished. We were lucky to arrive Sunday afternoon before the general store closed as there are no restaurants open that evening. Unfortunately there was no table or chairs in our room to eat at and no shelf to prepare items at the sink. Having some plates, silverware, and real glasses in the lobby to share would helpful. And we are of the generation that reads books , but there were no lights in the room bright enough to read comfortably. We were on the ground floor and someone actually looked in our room as he walked by! I would recommend half curtains so there is light but privacy. Finally, contactless check-in is really impersonal. Having someone at the desk for even 2 hours would give a person a chance to address issues are even say “hi” and “welcome”.

Summary: Very beautiful rooms, very clean and extremely quiet! The only thing I didn’t like was the microwave was downstairs in the lobby instead of the room.

Summary: The good: This hotel is beautifully designed and spotlessly clean. The room was comfortable and, the first night, very quiet. The tiny town is charming, an architectural throwback. Nice bakery across the street. The not so good: The hotel has no staff on site - literally never saw an employee. Since I had no cell phone service in the entire area and the hotel has no landline phones accessible by guests, the only way to communicate was via internet. So, when internet service went completely out the second night all communications were cut off. There’s a phone number posted in the lobby but no way to reach it! To their credit they took responsibility and explained future plans to avoid this sort of problem. But it seemed foreseeable, given that the whole town knows about cell coverage limits. I’m rounding up to a 3 due to their quick response and good intentions.
