Positive: Loved the main pool, villa pool and massages. Staff were all very nice and friendly.

Negative: We had a 2 bedroom family villa with pool - this villa (no 4) did not have lights or a ceiling fan that worked and the set up of the villa was not optimal. There was no real living space and the bathrooms were so dark and poorly maintained. Definitely not up to a 4 or 5* standard. The prices of the restaurant seemed a little high and despite marketing itself as vegan friendly, could not offer any vegan pastries for breakfast. The location is not very close to anything in walking distance. If you want a vibe and places to shop/eat out this isn’t for you unless you’re prepared to take taxis all the time (which is what we did end up doing). The beach is not amazing - tide was low when we went and there is lots of broken coral so wear swim shoes. A few power outages during our one week stay made things a little difficult. In addition the water pump was turned off one day without warning which made life a bit difficult.

Summary: Peaceful stay at Tolani Resort - but this is not a 5* resort and is far from anything

Negative: Power goes off occasionally and when it come back on it rings your doorbell, this can happen anytime of day or night. As staff how to turn doorbell off Location is a bit far away for other restaurants and bars You need to have the Grab or Bolt rideshare app. These are both good. There is of course scooter hire if you feel comfortable with the traffic

Positive: Staff where very welcoming and accommodating. Breakfast was lovely. Views are incredible. Location was not too busy. Nice and serene. You are not at the centre of anything but not too far. About 10-15 min drive to Lamai. Closest shop is around a 15 min walk. Their Grab app you can use over there is pretty quick and cheap to get around. Great option of activities on site. Kayaking is free, there are a couple bicycles you can take to the shops. We never tried the sauna, but it is available The Spa they have there was the best one we tried our whole stay. Our room itself was wonderful. Very private. I nice outdoor space. The bathroom was huge. And the bedroom has plenty of space.

Negative: The beachfront connecting to the resort on the lefthand side was quite littered. Not the resorts fault. Just a shame. Tolani itself is very clean. Though a few more bins around the place would have been nice. And the beach to the right is disconnected. The only way you can access is getting in the water. But that beach is much nicer. Also the room we stayed in often had ants getting inside. But it wasn't the end of the world. Very few issues really.

Summary: Exceptional stay. Would go again

Negative: The village around the hotel is really religious and has not a lot of restaurants to choose from.
